This gym has gone seriously downhill. The men’s changing rooms and toilets are filthy and clearly not cleaned during the day. Unacceptable for a paid gym. The equipment is outdated, and long-term members are clearly not a priority. Management seems more focused on handing out free guest passes and chasing new sign-ups than maintaining basic standards. This place used to be great. Now it’s poor, I do hope it can go back to being the same again
The Village Gym in Glasgow provides a solid overall experience for anyone looking to train consistently with a good range of facilities. The gym floor is spacious with a mix of cardio machines, resistance machines, free weights, and functional training areas, allowing both beginners and more experienced members to train comfortably. The equipment is generally well-maintained, and there is enough variety to rotate exercises without feeling limited. The class timetable is a strong point, offering spin, strength-based sessions, yoga, and other group options that suit different fitness levels. Instructors provide clear guidance and help structure the session effectively. The pool, sauna, and steam room add extra value for those who want recovery options after training or prefer low-impact exercise. Staff are approachable and available to answer questions or assist when needed. The environment feels clean, organised, and suitable for regular use. Like any gym, it can get busy during peak times, but outside those hours there is usually enough equipment to train without waiting long. Overall, it offers a balanced combination of training space, class availability, and wellness facilities. It is a suitable choice for someone looking for a gym with variety rather than just a basic workout space.
The staff are worth their weight in gold! Honestly, I probably wouldn't have joined and kept my membership going if it wasnt for the amazing staff. From the warm welcome when I signed up, to the encouragement and incentives of pool staff (Shout out to Beth!), and the amazing knowledge and passion of the PTs, particularly Adam who's definitely fuelled my fire about Powerlifting,l. He has built a programme thats engaging, fun and motivating, whilst also being specific to the sport. I would also really recommend Adam as a PT to anyone who's neurodivergant. He has been so understanding of my ADHD, and has really worked with me to build a trusting relationship and really get to know how my neurodiversity impacts my lifestyle, my training and my day to day life. Hes also good chat and doesn't just talk shop (in fact, he hates it!). Never thought I would be a morning gym goer, but with an engaging and inspiring team on the ground, why would I not want to come in to train hard and make good gains. My only complaint is the the membership cost is high! There is often broken down equipment, and regular gym users not helping to keep the facilities tidy. Sometimes its really difficult to locate the equipment or alternatives to broken pieces of kit. Staff are constantly busy trying to keep the place tip top, but when punters just leave stuff where they like, its definately a never ending task.
Awful gym. My partner and I have used this gym for over 15 months and there are a LOT of issues. Key training equipment (with no alternative for the muscle group) is left broken for almost 5 months. If you’re working with a legitimate professional trainer (not the Village staff) they’ll be struggling to adjust your plan. Critical machines are consistently out of order. Staff simply blame Technogym (the equipment manufacturer and take zero responsibility). The machines are old, dated and very tired and worn as I’ve used Technogym equipment in other gyms and it’s significantly better and way more modern. Village have clearly been going cheap on the equipment and maint contract. No supervision. Amateur gym users handling the machines stupidly and violently, inevitably contributing to the constant break downs. There’s so much plate slamming. It’s frustrating when Village PT staff are in and walking around but they don’t intervene with these people. They just leave everyone to their thing and ignore the basics. Paper Towels and cleaning Spray after often not restocked. The changing rooms, lockers and toilets are not open at 5am when the gym opens. This is because it gives access to the pool which isn’t open at that time. Still a pain for gym goers when it’s already failing to be open 24 hours. They are also filthy when they are open so I’ll do pretty much anything I can to avoid them. Sadly, the stairway to the gym smells like a sewer by 6am+ as there’s no ventilation there and too many sweaty patrons using the mini lockers at the bottom . I’ve complained to staff, management and even Village HQ about the broken key equipment for over 4 months and no changed or adjustments are made. There’s a pretence of care in their emails but this hasn’t let to anything being fixed. Overall, this place is dressed up and presented as a premium quality gym, and the price is really high but my partner and I will be cancelling our membership shortly as nothing could be further from the truth. Oh yeah, they also want 3 months notice after the full year. They’ll happily take your money but they really couldn’t care less about the actual gym. My advice: look beyond the fresh pull up banners and posters and don’t subscribe to this gym. It’s seriously neglected and the contract is exploitative.
Awesome experience at the Village gym, super warm welcome from Sammy and Holly at reception, and an amazing tour given by Michelle, will definitely be coming back tomorrow with my details to get a membership with Michelle’s help. My boyfriend had an intro session with Neve who was so friendly and supportive. The staff really sold the village to us and we’ve certainly found our new gym! Highly recommend heading down to the village to give it a try, they won’t disappoint.
