Walton’s Garden Center consistently offers the best plant selection and highest quality in the area. I always have fun when I’m here! The staff is always willing to help and offer growing advice. Their prices are also reasonable considering their plants outperform similar items from other suppliers in my garden.
Stopped in today for Turks Cap - A few other local lawn and garden centers were out, but Walton’s had a nice selection! The sales associate was also very kind and helpful.
Our experience at this business was deeply disappointing and unacceptable. From the moment we arrived, we were met with hostility rather than a warm welcome. The owner greeted us—not with a simple “hello” or “welcome”—but with suspicion, asking, “Where are you going?” Meanwhile, a white woman entering at the same time was greeted with a polite “Good morning, ma’am.” From that moment, it was clear that we were unwelcome, likely due to being an interracial couple. Over the course of three hours, we visited the store twice and made purchases each time. Despite being paying customers and even leaving our receipt visible on our dashboard, we were later confronted in an aggressive and threatening manner. As we were leaving with multiple plants in hand, the owners physically blocked our car from exiting. An older couple working there got in our faces, yelling and behaving aggressively. The owner became so enraged that his own son had to physically hold him back from attacking me, all while he cursed at me. The moment I started recording, he suddenly went silent—but just seconds earlier, he had been hurling insults and trying to lunge at me while his son held him back. The shift in behavior speaks volumes. Despite their hostility, we remained calm, even apologizing—though we had done nothing wrong—just to de-escalate the situation. We explained that our intention was never to harm their business, quite the opposite, as we were considering placing a large order for a house and hotel our family is building. In an effort to resolve things peacefully, we even asked what compensation they expected, to which they made an outrageous demand for $5,000. When they threatened to call the police, we welcomed it—only for them to suddenly back down and remove the blockade, proving they knew they were in the wrong. It’s disheartening that in 2025, we still encounter such blatant discrimination. No customer should be subjected to threats, aggression, and hostility based on the color of their skin. While the store clerk was pleasant and the plant selection was decent, we will never support this business again. We are also actively warning others in our community to do the same. We will be reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau and other relevant authorities, as no one should have to endure such treatment. I truly feel for the employees who work under such unhinged ownership, but no amount of product quality can make up for an experience like this.

While my fiancé was being threatened, I was trying to de-escalate the situation, feeling deeply concerned for his safety. Despite their aggression, we remained calm and even apologized, explaining that we never intended to harm their business—quite the opposite, as we had shopped there twice in just a few hours. Wanting to resolve the situation peacefully, we even asked how much they would like to be compensated. Their response? A ridiculous demand for $5,000. The woman insisted they wouldn’t remove the blockade until the store closed. (Which makes no sense—if they truly lost that much money, why keep us from leaving?) Only the younger employee, after failing to calm his father, eventually apologized to us. Meanwhile, the owners threatened to call the police, and when we agreed, they suddenly backed down and removed the blockade—proving they knew they were in the wrong. As for the store itself, the clerk was nice, and the plant selection is good. But I would never shop here again after experiencing such hostility and racism. No customer should be subjected to threats, aggression, and blatant discrimination. We will be reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau and other relevant authorities. I truly feel bad for the employees who work under these unhinged owners. Maybe they were suffering from heat stroke on top of their racism, but either way, their behavior was completely unacceptable.
In late October I purchased a rare plant, specifically a Pink Princess Philodendron. About 2 days after I brought it home, it started declining. The leaves were droopy and the pink leaf start browning significantly. I brought the plant back up to Walton's and was told the plant was in "shock" and that it should perk back up and adjust to it's surroundings in a few days. I asked for a partial refund and was denied because apparently they cannot guarantee their plants. My plant did not come around after a few days. It got worse. The leaves fell off, so I decided to take a look at the roots. They were rotted and fell apart. In my 2 years of collecting plants I have never dealt with root rot, so I do not believe this was my doing. When I brought the plant home, the soil was soaked, so I made sure to change it out with fresh, dry, chunky soil. In the end, I had to cut off the rotted roots and try and propagate in water. So far, no luck. Ultimately, I did not pay $300 for a rehab plant and I'm extremely disappointed. Walton's should be able to stand by the quality of their plants especially if they are rare and expensive plants. Customers should expect healthy and acclimated plants for $200-300. Shortly after purchasing this plant, I heard of another customer buy a Hoya Sunrise and find it also had root rot. I will not be purchasing from Walton's in the future and would not recommend anyone purchase rare plants from here.
