Went to see the annual community Plein Air exhibit/show. What a great facility and some exceptional local artists. Any community would be lucky to have such a great center and the support of local patrons and art community like this. If you are in town, stop by for a quick visit.
I’ve taken several wonderful classes here, as well as a private art class for an event. All of the instructors have been wonderful, and Ive learned everything from pottery throwing to drawing.
The building was well-designed to be highly functional as an art space. Right off of the main entrance there's reception, an exhibition space, a classroom, shopping gallery, and two long hallways leading to classrooms. Along the hallway I took through the gallery, there is also a very well-stocked library. Throughout the building are enormous windows where you can look out at nature and life around the building. I went for pottery classes and, having learned in a different studio, was truly amazed at the quantity and quality of tools and materials that were available to use. There are several brands of throwing wheels to choose from, depending on what you're used to. There's a huge cabinet full of sorted tools. There's a separate room for hand building, including slump molds, a slab roller, and heavy-duty extruder. There's yet another room for glazing including, about 20 5 gallon buckets of dipping glaze, and perhaps 30-40 jars of painting glaze, and a cabinet full of underglazes, waxes and masks, brushes and other glazing tools. WBCA is a veritable wonderland for the exploration of clay. The picture I included is taken from the parking lot, showing the vantage availabe from the building. While there are other things nearby, it feels tucked away with a lot to see.
Haven't taken any classes through here yet, but my daughter and I visited during an event one day in January. We did a craft, listened to music, and visited with sled dogs. Many types of art by multiple artists. Worth checking out.
Really enjoyed the ceramics classes I took with exceptional instructor Adama. Was warmly welcomed by the other students and staff. Love the bracelets I made in Kim's class. They are open to all, members and non-members. Gallery has a wonderful show in it right now. Changes regularly so go and check it out! Highly recommend!!
