For my birthday, a friend ordered a galette des rois for me from one of Calgary’s well-regarded boutique French pastry shops, as I personally prefer galette des rois over cake. After picking it up and bringing it home, I noticed some issues with the presentation. The top-right corner had partially collapsed, the bake was uneven, and there were a few burnt areas. Although the flavor was still good, the overall appearance did not quite meet the standard one would expect from a French pâtisserie.
Their limited Galettes des Rois (Kings Cake) was really good! Flaky crust with vanilla custard inside. Our family enjoyed it. The pie also has the ceramic coin and comes with a crown. If I may suggest though, it would be better if the coin had a cute picture with the bakery name at the back 😁 Ordering online and pickup was also very good. Thank you!
Best french bakery in town with amazing staff. I usually don’t like very sweet desserts so their staff Thomas (not sure if I got the name correctly sorry) had some great recommendations. If you happen to be in Calgary it’s a must visit.
Cute place with friendly staff! The croissants weren't big, and the way they were displayed made them look like an artwork. The plain croissant is to die for. I'd say it's the best butter croissant in YYC. It was very crispy on the outside, and the layers were clear and thin. I regret not getting more! The almond croissant was good, but it was slightly too sweet for me. This is the first choice for croissants!
The food is really good! My teacher ordered this online and we got this today. This is probably the best pastry I had ever eaten. I love the Paris Calgary cake and the croissants. I highly recommend the Paris Calgary cake when it has a cream puff filling inside. I should visit this place someday!
