Z makes each session be as welcoming and engaging as possible, managing to make time both for learning and chatting. Each class had an atmosphere that had me totally at ease, and afterwards I'd always feel as if I'd learned something new. I'm not even a permanent resident here, yet whenever I come to Houston, I make sure to attend his classes.
Z is an amazing art teacher and mentor! I've been taking his anime art class since May this year, and I have learned a lot from him. His clear instruction, effective communication, and constructive feedback have greatly improved my art fundamentals as well as my anime themed artwork. I highly recommend his class to anyone who wants to learn art and the anime art style. It's fun, engaging, and you will learn a lot!
I am happy that I signed up for Z Art Studio and School! I found the school when looking to learn the fundamentals to improve my art for a video game project. Z has helped me improve my art through helpful instruction and confidence-building. The classes are welcoming, and you can tell how much everyone enjoys being there. I cannot believe that I am creating art that I was saving up to commission after only 2 months of classes. I look forward to joining next semester and taking other available courses.
My thirteen year old son has been attending Z Art Studio for a few months, and all I can say is- WOW! I’ve seen a lot of improvement on his line work and dedication to his pieces. We are both extremely pleased. Z’s curriculum based classes are exactly what he needed. We are really looking forward to working with Z over the next couple of years and on his college admission portfolio when that time comes. I recommend anyone who wants to elevate their skills to come here!
I have ONLY positive things to say about Z and my experience learning from him! Not only is he extremely talented, he is an enthusiastic and devoted teacher. He really cares about each of his students and works to personalize the experience to match each person’s interests and skills. His classes often involve a combination of a “demo” in which he teaches about a fundamental concept such as how to apply value or how to draw an eye. He demonstrates each concept and then allows time for practice in various exercises as well as working on projects we are interested in. You can start at any level with Z. I had not done any type of art in about 10 years before my first class with Z, and am a beginner by all measures. He has helped me re-explore art in a fun and non-intimidating way. Z would also be very effective for more advanced artists; I have observed more advanced students comment things along the lines of “I only wish someone had explained this to me years earlier!” in classes. He really breaks things down and manages to teach in a very organized fashion while keeping the atmosphere of his classes upbeat and collaborative. He also provides all of the materials for class, which is a plus. If you are looking to learn from someone who is an expert artist and also has a heart for teaching, look no further than Z!
