I have been taking garments and clothing to here for over 2 years. Her ability is second to none. The dry cleaning service is ran and operated very efficiently and prices are great. Lastly, the greetings, the conversation, and the overall energy when you arrive to drop off, and pick up, is unmatched.

Zanobia is the best seamstress, tailor I’ve ever worked with! One of my favorite dresses sustained a terrible stain on the backside (from a day in the rain & mud) and despite her and her husband’s dry cleaning efforts, it wasn’t quite salvageable. Check out the “before” photo in this review. Side-note – this charming couple run the establishment, it’s a combo dry cleaners/alterations gig. Zanobia herself is the queen tho 😉 So my lovely dress was unfortunately not salvageable. However, like a well-trained reconstructive surgeon, she designed a plan to excise and then rebuild the parts of the dress that were still useable, creating a brand new dress — even retaining the pockets! I would strongly recommend her seamstressing work to anyone! In the shop you can also see she has fine micro-surgical skills, as she fashions small dioramas of model houses etc. As I move away from durham, I will miss her excellent work, as she is inimitable.

Zanobia is amazing! I desperately needed a dress hemmed for a wedding. She was very responsive through email and when I got to the store, she let me know upfront the cost and timeline. Not only was the dress ready on time, it was steamed and picture perfect. I have a few other dresses that need alterations and I'm so happy I now know Zanobia can work her magic on them. Plus, at 5'4", there will definitely be other pieces in my closet I know she'll make them fit me just right. This was my first time doing business with Zanobia but certainly not the last. Definitely recommend!

Came in to replace a zipper on a bib. Upfront on pricing and timeline. Put effort into matching the color and did great work Edit: i’ve now brought pants and a dress here that have all turned out amazing. They do a great job here. I had the best experience with Zanobia alterations! One of my favorite dresses sustained a break in the zipper, rendering this beautiful piece completely unwearable. I met with her, who shared with me that it could be a tough fix due to the unique color of the dress, also because it was a hidden or internalized zipper it would be a challenge. She communicated very professionally with me via email regarding the process – – which unfortunately did take numerous weeks because it required custom ordering a zipper from a separate manufacturer. Even when a manufacturing company sent her a zipper she knew it was the wrong color.... due to the importance of the piece she was not willing to except a sub-par match. Again her communication was excellent with me throughout the process. At the end she was able to find a perfect match for the zipper and did the work in an amazing fashion!! This dress has been restored to its former brilliance! I have nothing but the highest compliments for her artisanry, professionalism and communication. As a surgeon-in-training, I will say that her communication skills and her dedication to pursue the best possible outcome despite challenges is truly an inspiration. Should I have future needs for alterations I will definitely be returning here and I will recommend her services to all my colleagues. Also of note she provides a discount for Duke Health employees!
