Some of the most beautiful guitars I’ve ever seen. Don’t expect to just walk in and try everything, the guitars are valuable and this is not your average guitar store. The guys are very proficient and helpful.
I normally love this place. It has all very high end gear and the guys know their stuff. I spent 4k on a used guitar from here a few years ago. I recently came in as I was in the market for a high end ES style guitar. I wanted to check out to a Collings I-35 but was dismissively told I could "only play it if I was going to buy it". I wasn't ready on that day so I left feeling a bit dismissed. When it was time to make a purchase I went elsewhere. They could have easily made a large sale if I had a different experience. Customer service matters.
I have walked into this store as a serious buyer with an idea of what I was looking for, and as a return customer just looking to buy strings/poke around. The folks here are very knowledgeable and have a stock of extremely high quality and well taken care of new/consignment instruments. The staff are serious sales people, which means their time is valuable and they don’t want to spend it chit-chatting which I respect as a fellow sales-professional. This is NOT a guitar center. I do wish they would at least look up from the computer to welcome me back into their store since I am a returning customer though. When I went in to buy a guitar the experience was exceptional, and the attention to detail was great enough that I would 100% buy another guitar from them. If you are looking to window shop there are better stores to peruse as a non-serious buyer, and there is nothing wrong with that. If you know what you are looking for and are ready to buy it, this is honestly where I would recommend going. If you are soul searching just head over to one of the many other great stores in Austin.
I've been playing my new (to me) guitar non-stop since I came back from picking her up at Austin Guitar House and wanted to take a break to write a review. The whole purchasing experience was quick, easy, and pleasant. I had initially found the listing online via Reverb and they responded immediately. They gave me regular status checks on the payment process (if you're a first time buyer via Reverbs, it holds the funds in escrow until the purchase is verified) and even let me examine and handle guitar before payment was finalized. I think this boutique shop is a real gem in Austin and worth a visit. The two times I was there, I never felt out of place or ignored, and the store itself has a nice array of nicer instruments and equipment. The set up on the Gibson is pretty much perfect as-is and it is apparent they vet the instruments they choose to sell. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and expect to buy future gear from Austin Guitar House.
Not your average guitar shop! It's filled with beautiful vintage pieces. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, comfortable and inviting. The staff is extremely knowledgeable! I would love to see more shops like this!!! Amazing selection!
