Barr Estate Winery Inc. ist ein familiengeführtes Weingut in einem Obstgarten außerhalb von Sherwood Park, das in Kleinserien Fruchtweine aus regional angebauten Himbeeren, Rhabarber, Erdbeeren und Kirschen herstellt. Nestled outside Sherwood Park, Barr Estate Winery is the kind of place you discover and want to tell and share with others, while secretly hoping it doesn’t get too popular and lose its hometown charm. Family-run and orchard-based, the winery crafts small-batch fruit wines from raspberries, rhubarb, strawberries, and cherries grown right on the farm. It’s a refreshing, unique twist on the typical wine tasting experience. The cozy setting adds to its appeal having chickens, sheep, and donkeys roaming the farm, and the property also doubles as a beautiful, affordable wedding venue with tree-lined ceremony spots, a large reception tent, and rustic touches. Amy led a delightful, private tasting with my husband and I. While the wines are carefully made and all tasty, The Jewel, a fortified sour cherry wine, is a standout favourite—rich, velvety, and seriously delicious. With its one-of-a-kind wines and warm hospitality, Barr Estate Winery is a visit you won’t soon forget!
This is one of the very few wineries in the area, and it’s definitely worth a visit. The owner was friendly and welcoming. I’d recommend stopping by if you’re in the area... a great way to enjoy a fun day and support a local business.
Popped in on a spur-of-the-moment visit to this unique winery. It was a wet day and the winery was not busy. We received an invaluable lesson on non-grape wines and tasted 4 different offerings. As a grape wine lover I was not expecting too much, but was VERY impressed with the selections we tried. I have lived in Ontario and BC and have a passion for exploring wines of different provinces. These wines are exceptional alternatives to grape varieties and would be great additions to any table. I believe people should explore their local offerings and be open to new interpretations of classic takes on all kinds of products. If you live near, or are visiting the area, I really urge you to stop in and experience for yourself what Alberta fruits can be transformed into in the hands of the mad scientists at Barr Estate.
