Visited for a dental emergency. They were packed. I thought for sure I’d be waiting forever but they were super fast. They moved through that huge line quickly. They got me in fast, took x-rays quickly, and used deductive reasoning to figure out what I needed. I was very appreciative of them. Everyone was incredibly nice, well mannered, positive. They’re definitely a great option if you need help quickly!
I would truly rather swim with sharks than go to the dentist… until today. I had a dental emergency and didn’t have an appointment. I walked in expecting a long wait and stress — instead, I waited less than 10 minutes before being taken back and immediately evaluated by Dr. Powers and her wonderful, extremely efficient assistant. A treatment plan was quickly created and executed flawlessly. I was out of there in less than an hour and a half — completely satisfied and, most importantly, no longer in pain. This practice should be the standard for how medical offices operate. Professional, compassionate, efficient, and organized. I would recommend Birmingham Family Dentistry to everyone I know without hesitation.
My first time here and I was real nervous.. But this was one of the best decisions I made! I had to go for a walk in, and was treated with respect and good laughs. The staff were great and very helpful! I will definitely be coming back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great experience! I have a primary dentist but I’ve been going to BDS off and on since I was 18 years old and got my wisdom teeth pulled. I walked into their office today in pain due to a tooth that I am Waiting for a crown currently it has a temporary placed on there. My own dentist made my crown wrong. I was supposed to get the crown a few days ago but now it’s gonna be another week or so before I get it. But in the meanwhile, my own dentist could not determine why my tooth was so sensitive and in so much pain. I had convinced myself that the tooth needed a root canal. I had requested to have an x-ray done and was denied. I was told that that’s how it is sometimes that the teeth respond to the temporary by becoming sensitive. I went along with that. Several days had passed and I was still in pain. That’s when I decided to go to Birmingham dental services and get a second opinion on the tooth. They took an x-ray on and discovered that there was no issues with the work that was done. It seemed that the temporary was slamming down on my bottom teeth and it was going into my bite. So the dentist trimmed that down. Also, there was some cement that was left in between the tooth and that may have been causing the sensitivity so they cleaned In between the tooth and also readjusted the bite on the crown. The dentist numbed me because she did not want me to experience pain while she was adjusting the bite on the temp. Since the numbness has worn off, I feel like a new woman. The tooth is no longer feeling as sensitive virtually almost not sensitive at all. So it seems like whatever they did it worked like a charm. I am so thankful to them for just being a caring sensitive provider who is focused on meeting patients needs. I beginning to think about having a new primary, but we will see how that goes. Thanks again!!!
I used their walkin services twice. Once in 2013 and most recently over the 2025/26 holidays. It’s so good to have an emergency dental option in Birmingham. Both of my experiences were great. The staff were friendly and efficient and the office was clean! I saw the owner (Dr Swicord) and he was great. Thanks for providing excellent care during the holidays!
