Very disappointing experience. It was a busy time however the line was so long because the process of renting a canoe or paddle boat takes so long. We waited in line for 30min and were still probably about 20min away from getting to a boat when we decided to leave the line. There were tons of boats waiting at the dock. But each group that would go up to pay would be at the window for over 5min and then seemed to be about another 10min approximately to get life jackets on and actually get into the boat. Not sure what takes so long as we never actually made it to the ticket window. But they really need to find a way to speed up/streamline this process. There's no reason it should take this long to pay and get into a canoe.

Came here all the way from BC and was very excited to rent a boat but the manager is sooooo rude and a jerk. Got there on time as the website said but he told us that we were late. I guess they have zero coordination with their website. His attitude was as if he just wanted to close the boat rental and run home. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! FIRE THIS GUYYYY

If you’re planning a visit to Bowness Park and want to enjoy some time on the water, here’s what you need to know about renting a boat. Rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so there’s no need to make a reservation—just walk up and get ready for some fun! Keep in mind that payment is debit or credit card only, as they don’t accept cash. For those looking to explore the lagoon, you can choose from pedal boats, canoes, and kayaks, all of which come with the necessary safety equipment. To rent a boat, you must be 18 or older, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian while out on the water. Boathouse Rental Prices: Pedal Boats (Fits 2 adults + 1 small child in the middle) 30 minutes – $20 1 hour – $30 2 to 3 hours – $40 Canoes (Fits 2 adults + 1 small child in the middle) 30 minutes – $20 1 hour – $30 2 to 3 hours – $40 Kayaks (Single kayaks for 1 person, double kayaks for 2 people) 30 minutes – $20 1 hour – $30 2 to 3 hours – $40 If you’re visiting with kids, you might also want to check out the mini train ride at the Rental Kiosk: Single ticket – $5 Family pass (1-2 adults/youth, 2-3 small children) – $10 Just a heads-up—if the weather takes a turn for the worse, all boats will be called back to shore for safety, and the boathouse will close. Also, if you’re looking for other gear rentals beyond what’s offered here, you’ll need to check out the University of Calgary location instead. Enjoy your time at Bowness Park, and have fun out on the water!

One of the best spots in Calgary for family fun. Loved canoeing in the small section of the Bow river. Safe and fun for first timers. Will definitely go again.
