Do not recommend. Unfortunately, there were unexpected items that occurred despite being agreed on and confirmed prior to the event. - Bytown Catering serves bar beverages in plastic cups. Because of this, we rented glassware from Bytown Catering for drinks to be served in for the entire event. Although, they only used glassware starting at 9pm. This impacted our formal event and did not fulfill elements of our contract. We were also required to hire an additional busser due to the additional glassware, which was then not necessary with the lack of glassware served. - Straws were confirmed in advance to be available for all the bars. Although, during the event, we were surprised when straws weren’t available due to the close proximity to the lake and the potential for littering in it. This conflicted with information previously provided by the company. - Coolers and were not transferred from the outdoor bar to the indoor bar when the event moved indoors resulting in guests not able to order the previously agreed upon coolers throughout the event. There was also a shortage of coolers and ciders - Exact bar menu items could not be confirmed ahead of the event despite the customer requesting a list. Disappointing to find out many cocktails such as Aperol spritz were not available. - House wine offered during dinner service was changed by the company one month before the event. This was not one of the wines tested during the tasting offered earlier in the year. - Place settings were missing elements such as bread plates etc. including at the guests of honours’ place settings. - It was also noticed by many guests, including the guests of honour, that most serving staff seemed to be working their first event. For example, there was a server that walked in front of the podium during a speech. The lack of experience was evident and impacted the event, as good service was expected. Not only was the enjoyment of the event impacted, this also caused displeasure, inconvenience, and unexpected additional efforts from the customer. After contacting the company, a partial reimbursement was offered.

Working with Bytown was a pleasure. The food at our wedding was better than it was at the tasting event they hosted in the winter! The servers were very polite, always checking in on us and our guests. We had a plated service and all the food arrived quickly. We had some communication issues: our event coordinator didn't answer our emails on the week of the event and they were using a 3-month-old seating chart when they arrived, despite us providing (and them acknowledging) updated copies before the event. Fortunately, the team on-site resolved it with ease and it had no impact to the event.

They catered my wedding and overall they were wonderful. We did have some hiccups. When I entered the venue I noticed some of the glasses being put out were dirty so I went and replaced the glasses myself. Also, my colours were red and orange for the napkins and I panicked when I saw they were putting down bright pink napkins with the red which would have completely thrown off my entire decor. I contacted Buck their manager in Kingston and he went above and beyond for me to fix the situation by driving up to their warehouse in Ottawa to collect the correct colour of napkins for me. My dinner started at 6pm and he arrived just in time to have everything set up. I was so thankful my decor looked perfect for my big day since I spent so much time planning it. He was also very polite, professional and extremely helpful throughout the entire event and he alone deserves a 10 out of 10. We chose their BBQ steak and chicken buffet and it was so delicious. My guests were very pleased with the food they prepared, and they were extremely helpful with ensuring they had lots of dairy free options for some of my guests. The only complaint I would make was that it was extremely difficult cutting into a steak with a dull butter knife and when we asked if they had steak knives we were told there were none. That was surprising and a let down since I could hardly cut my steak however, overall the food was still delicious and displayed out beautifully for my guests to grab their plates. Overall the night went very well, my guests had a good time, my husband and I enjoyed ourselves so I would 100% recommend them, especially Buck himself since he was great, to cater to any event!

We couldn’t be happier with our experience! The food was absolutely amazing, and so many of our guests complimented it throughout the night. The staff were wonderful — friendly, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The team was also incredibly attentive to our needs as bride and groom, making sure we were taken care of at every step. Communication was excellent from start to finish, which made the whole process stress-free. Highly recommend!

Kudos, Bytowne Catering saved the day when on short notice, less than 24 hours, they fulfilled my order for a staff farewell. For the order I dealt with Aya who put me at ease confirming they could help. Patrice delivered everything on time, even early to set up. I was impressed with the linens, abundant plates, napkins, and condiments which Patrice returned for in the afternoon. Great job and thank you. We will definitely be using Bytowne Catering again.
