i visited the carnegie museums of art and natural history on a weekday and had a wonderful experience overall. the collection is absolutely massive and it was so much fun to walk through every exhibit. ✨ plus, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. if you are driving, there is on-site parking available, but it was relatively full even for a weekday so i had to drive down a few levels to find a spot. the "cards only" sign at the gate is a bit confusing because the machines at the exit actually do accept apple pay! if you want to pay before you get back to your car, there is also a booth inside the museum near the entrance and bathrooms with machines that take apple pay too. 🦖 the only minor downsides were that many of the hand sanitizer dispensers and toilet seat covers were empty during my visit. despite those small details, i had a great time and would definitely recommend a visit! 🎨
Well, it’s not an overly large museum, the collection is really high-quality. And there’s a huge amount of variety. You can see a lot of European paintings from the 15th to the 19th centuries, but I thought the best part of it was the pre-impressionism impressionism and then what followed after. All of the big name artists that you’d expect in those time periods are pretty well represented. And they aren’t bogus quality. Most of them are actually pretty good ones. It’s definitely worth a trip.
We went for the Musem of Art mainly but enjoyed the Natural History section too. Friendly staff and guides help you to learn more about the art. The natural history section had great exhibits on birds and bugs. And a jewelry exhibit was fun to run through. Easy parking make it easy to spend time here.
I'm a member so that I can visit this large art gallery often. It houses so many famous pieces including a Monet Water Lilies! The collection of Charles "Teenie" Harris photography, a Pittsburgh icon, captures Black life tenderly. Many modern artworks as well. Many galleries to choose from. Plus it is connected to the Carnegie Natural History Museum where you can see beautiful minerals and see our famous dinosaurs just to name a few.
A smorgasbord of art. A little modern, impressionistic, classical. I liked the modern furniture and appliances display. Visited a copy of Venus di Milo and Winged Victory of Samothrace. Helpful staff. Good selection in gift shop. You can also see the Museum of Natural History with your ticket. My Cincinnati Art Museum membership got me in free.
