Did a half day guided climb with Rick at Pinnacles National Park. I am still fairly new to this and Rick was instructive and patient, reviewing all the safety procedures with me and pointing out areas for improvement. Communication was solid the entire time and I am very happy with my experience. Definitely recommend this guiding business for anyone looking to have fun and brush up on their skills.
Went out with Rick for a full day of climbing at Pinnacles. Before the trip, he was flexible with me since rain was on the forecast so I appreciated that a lot. As for the climbing day, he was sociable, attentive, and educational. I've only done a handful of multi-pitches and rappels over the years. Above all, I felt very safe with him! He even noticed a mistake I made tying in, which I usually never do. I had an amazing time and would love to go out climbing again with Rick and his guides. Thank you!
My husband and I have been outdoor climbers since the 1990s; however, we haven't done much recently and don't know the area since we are just in San Fran visiting for the long weekend. We thought we'd give the half-day guided climb a try and have some fun in nature. We were not disappointed. Rick was incredibly responsive to the questions I had pre-booking. The booking process was easy, and the post-booking instructions were clear. Steven, the experienced instructor/guide, met us at Castle Rock. He was so friendly and helpful; it was a pleasure to hang out with him for 4 hours. He set up multiple climbs for us at our ability level and guided us (me especially) when we got stuck. There was no pressure, only encouragement. What a fun day! We will find him again to lead us on the rock the next time we are in town. 100% recommend.
Today’s climb was organized by The Outsiders Bootcamp (San Jose) with Castle Rock Climbing School. And what a thrilling adventure it was! My first ever climbing experience and I was fortunate to be coached by Rick and Katie. Rick was incredibly patient, supportive and encouraging throughout the session. Every climb was preceded with clear and crisp and easy to follow instructions and demo. Highly recommend!
I took a 2-day private lead climbing course with Rick back in October. He is so knowledgeable and does a fantastic job of explaining things. I truly cannot recommend taking his course enough for anyone else who is looking to become a more confident, competent lead climber and belayer.
