Absolutely one of the best finer dining dinner experiences in the Duke. Char is housed on the ground level of the Hotel Andaluz and their ice vs fire gimmicks are taken to the next level with their dry ice cocktails and the lava stone that the steak was served on. The night started with one of the biggest and best albóndiga, cooked thoroughly and drenched in a flavourful marinara that spiked the savoury buds. Our server chilled down the spice of the meatball with the first dry ice concoction of the evening. My partner was served up an elevated espresso martini that got his pallet ready for the most succulent steaks we've had in the southwest. The garnishes, apps, and experience really had us jumping our salivary glands all over the sweet-savory spectrum. The dessert menu was presented on ice and we shared an immaculate cake. Will definitely come back to try the other drinks encased in the leatherbound menu and check out more of the rooftop bar.
This restaurant is the Andaluz Hotel. We had dinner and breakfast the next morning. Both meals were excellent. Ellie was our server. She was friendly and provided excellent service. We ordered the enchiladas, chips salsa and guacamole for dinner. For breakfast, oatmeal and tres leches stuffed French toast. The ambiance was very nice. We definitely would dine here again when we are in Albuquerque.
Food was great, service was outstanding. Even the two Hostess were very sweet , the two bartenders at the Speakeasy bar, and the busser guy. Marina (our server) was very kind to us. She answered all our questions about the menu items. We asked for the Wagyu Sirloin Steak 🥩 🤤 it was mouth-watering, also for the potatoes and wild mushrooms as sides. All of them simply fabulous. Appetizers and Entrees were delicious! The place is beautiful and welcoming. Desserts on the other hand… I was expecting more… 😭 Spoiler Alert: the Pan de Muerto dessert was not Pan de Muerto AT ALL!!!! it’s a regular Tres Leches cake, and it tasted as if it was store-bought. Did not enjoy it at all.
15/5/25 - we had a great experience here for dinner. We both had steaks that were served on a 400 degree lava slab that kept the steaks warm and cooking until your desired temperature. The steaks and side dishes were absolutely fantastic. The drinks were also delicious. Please review photos free details. The restaurant was inviting and clean. The staff was friendly, professional, and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to my next adventure here. There was a lot going on downtown. Parking was available, but we had to search for it. May want to give yourself a little extra time.
This restaurant has subtle yet inviting décor, paired with food and service that truly shine. The breakfast tacos were a delight, not only colorful on the plate but also bursting with flavor, leaving me satisfied without feeling heavy. The biscuits and gravy (I remember there being eggs too, I could be wrong) stood out as well, with a unique twist that left a pleasantly lingering taste. Our server was very pleasant, polite, and made sure we had everything we needed. A spot I’d gladly return to and encourage others to experience.
