This should really be advertised as a 100% hot yoga studio, the non heated classes are just as hot as the heated classes. Theres no time to have the room be sanitized or ventilated properly in between classes. The rooms have very poor air circulation with the small size of the rooms and whatever heater system they use. So the air is always very stuffy and muggy from the class before. They give a disclaimer on their website there may be heat left over from the previous class. But that heat level is VERY high and does not die down as the class goes on. I personally love heated classes but I've gone into non heated classes unprepared by not hydrating enough and not wearing the correct clothes for a heated class. Now after going to other studios that have better air quality and properly label their classes it makes a big difference especially if you're a beginner. The instructors don't correct the students. Once in a blue moon they hand out cards to indicate if someone is ok with being corrected but I've never seen anyone actually do it for the people that say yes. And the bulk of their classes are sculpt classes so if you don't like sculpt you have minimal time slots. Unless you don't work a 9-5 and are able to take a class in the middle of the day. The classes were very fun and challenging but its a very pricey studio and theres better out there.
CorePower is the largest national chain of yoga studios. In addition to over 200 physical locations, they also offer an "on-demand" option which is included with all monthly memberships, otherwise, it can be accessed al la carte for a monthly subscription of $19.99. These options make yoga accessible from anywhere and available anytime. There are a variety of classes - C1, C2, Sculpt, HPF, and Core Restore. C1 is explained as an opportunity to explore the postures and fundamentals of Vinyasa yoga. C1 classes are all structured the same with a consistent set sequence. Although no additional heat is added, the website warns that rooms may reach 85 degrees. C2 is an intermediate class that builds on the foundation of C1 and introduces more challenging postures, as well as promotes a connection between movement and breath during practice. The room is typically heated between 95-98 degrees, helping to detoxify. Sculpt utilizes C2 sequencing but incorporates free weights with strength training moves like lunges, squats, and bicep curls to literally "sculpt" your body. The room is typically heated to between 95-98 degrees but unlike other classes has no added humidity. HPF or Hot Power Fusion combines the meditative qualities of plain hot yoga with the movement of power yoga. Because the room is humidified and heated between 100-103 degrees I HIGHLY recommend bringing a towel to help absorb some of the sweat you'll undoubtedly excrete, preventing you from sliding all over your mat. Core Restore is a yin yoga class. No flow or sequence is involved. Instead, the class focuses on achieving a meditative state with intense stretching which involves holding postures anywhere from 3-5 minutes. Usually, classes are lit with artificial candlelight, which I find especially relaxing and restorative. There are additional classes C1.5 and C3, however, these additional classes are not currently offered at the Chandler location. Most locations offer new clients an All Access Membership complimentary week pass, allowing you to adequately try classes both in the studio or via streaming. Although costs differ nationally by location, monthly membership is affordable and student rates are available. Memberships are easy to cancel and class packs or drop-in rate options are available as an alternative to a monthly membership. Namasté
Be prepared to be locked out of class if you’re 2 min late. :/ I even waited at the front door and knocked hoping to be let in, had a yoga instructor come out of the studio to peer into the lobby and saw me standing outside the front door just to proceed to go back to class without letting me in. Not to mention, paying $30 for a class I didn’t even get to attend. Not the most pleasurable or hospitable experience I’ve had at a yoga studio. Very discouraging and unwelcoming.
Especially given the high price tag for classes at this studio, it has a number of deficiencies: * Showers have been dirty, with wads of other people's hair on the shower floors, just about every time I've been there. * Most of the time, the yoga room smells terrible -- an awful combination of stale sweat and bacteria, revealing that the room is not ventilated, cleaned, or deodorized between classes. * There is no education on yoga class etiquette. One time I attended, a man was breathing SO LOUD through the entire class, intentionally (not because he had a disability or couldn't help it -- it was weird, unnecessary inappropriate "yogic" breathing). The sound dominated the entire room and you could not block it out. It is hard for me to relax and enjoy my EXPENSIVE yoga class with heavy male breathing pounding through my head. I told the instructor after and they basically told me - oh well, too bad. * There are much cleaner and less expensive hot yoga studios in the area where etiquette is also taught to protect people's class experience -- Yoga Pulse in Mesa is a great example. HALF THE COST of CorePower, always crystal clean and smells great, and no creepy heavy breathing to disrupt my class experience.
This studio is amazing and filled with teachers who have their own authentic and amazing flair. I primarily take C2 classes hosted by Coley, Christian, and Larissa who are all exceptional but recently had my first class with Valerie and she was also outstanding! All of the classes are unique and I always feel like I’m getting a solid workout while taking care of mental health simultaneously. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. Couldn’t recommend this studio enough!
