I arrived around 7p (an hour before they closed), got back to a room around 7:30p, they took my vitals, swabbed for strep (when I was pretty certain tonsil stones are what’s irritating my throat), then Dr. Joel Lopez came in making jokes for the entire time, looked at my throat for about a millisecond or two, told me essentially I was wrong I don’t have tonsil stones (when I’ve had tonsil stones plenty of times before, and I can definitely tell I do by the constant taste in my mouth). This time it hurts like hell, and this doctor simply didn’t want to take do his job thoroughly, and I’m stuck with a copay. Oh and mind you, the strep test came back negative. SHOCKER.
We had a walk-in urgent care appointment for 9:15 AM and arrived at 9:00 AM. By 9:50 AM, my friend had only had her vitals taken. During this time, she was actively vomiting/dry heaving, shaking, and sweating. She was finally seen by the provider around 10:04 AM. The doctor himself was very kind and professional. A urine test was ordered, and we were told Zofran would be brought; however, it wasn’t administered until 10:06 AM, nearly an hour after arrival, despite her ongoing vomiting (which we had explained had been happening since 3:00 AM). As of 10:30 AM, we were still waiting on urine test results. A nurse brought water at 10:28 AM and stated the doctor would be right behind her. As of 10:43 AM, we were still waiting. I’m sorry, but I should have gone to a further/ different place. I understand that urgent care settings can be busy and that providers shouldn’t feel rushed. That said, there should still be a sense of urgency, especially when a patient is visibly ill and actively vomiting. That urgency was noticeably lacking during this visit. Given that this appointment consisted of vitals, Zofran, and a urine test, it’s difficult to understand why the visit stretched well over an hour, particularly when we had a scheduled appointment and were listed at the top of the queue. Paying a $62 copay for this level of delay and discomfort was disappointing. Again, the doctor was kind and professional, but this location needs to seriously address wait times, patient flow, and prioritization of actively ill patients.
Stopped in for a strep test. I got in almost instantly and Sarah M. was my provider. She was attentive, professional and encouraging despite my brain-fog from this (not-strep) virus. She also had a lot of fun jokes. Ask her for a joke and she'll have a great one ready for you - I just know it!
I got in relatively quick. However while I was seen for pink eye the doctor proceeded to touch my face and eye WITHOUT washing his hands or putting gloves on. I knew I couldn't get anything for viral pink eye but needed a doctors note so I could get an excused absence but the PA I saw told me I could still go to my clinic class because other people wouldn't be able to tell cause it's not that noticeable. This is a highly contagious virus like what is that advice?
Been here quite a few times and my rating honestly depends on the trip. Appointments go through pretty quickly, often faster than the estimated wait time. The doctors for the most part have been hospitable. Typically I have been happy with what they provide. One issue is that they told a family member her finger was fine after she'd been experiencing issues with it for a couple of weeks (and didn't really look at her hand). She still has problems with it and another Doctor gave a different diagnosis. Anyway. Pretty good for an urgent care and I appreciate the time medical staff give up
