We have been going to Dave for music lessons for years now. Two of our kids have been his students for a very long time, and we are eager to get our third started as soon as both Dave and they are ready. Our oldest has become a virtuoso guitarist and has mastered rock, jazz, and classical pieces. Our other child has become an exceptional drummer across multiple genres as well. Dave even teaches studio production and electronic music in addition to his instrumental instruction. Perhaps the best part of working with Dave is the recitals he hosts, which have a loose party vibe with lots to eat and drink, and excellent music throughout the evening. Not like any other recital I've ever been to!

David is a wonderful teacher! My son studied guitar with him for 7 years. He only stopped lessons because he left for college. During those years, David was an important teacher and mentor. He pushed my son in the best way possible, while encouraging him and expanding his love for music. David's knowledge spans popular music, classical music, jazz, and many different instruments. He meets students where they are and guides them to learn and improve in a fun and collaborative way. My son always looked forward to lessons and he learned so much! The recitals are like small house concerts and involve lots of instruments, genres of music, singing, and great fun! Our whole family looked forward to them. As a teacher myself who also studied music in college, I couldn't recommend music lessons with David any more highly!

David is a phenomenal music teacher! My son studied guitar with him for 7 years, from age 11 to college, and had a great experience. In addition to being a talented multi-instrumentalist, David is knowledgeable about all kinds of music and knows how to make lessons fun and productive. David is great teaching kids of all ages, and adults (speaking from my own experience). Honestly, you won't find a better music teacher in Durham!

My son has been taking guitar lessons with David for a few years now and David continues to make the lessons fun and engaging. My son will often come home talking about some new song being taught or a cool instrument David introduced him to. Again, keeping music exciting. The “recitals” are more jam sessions and enjoyable for the whole family. My son loves it, is learning to be a solid guitar player and is gaining such appreciation for music.
