I had my wedding in Hawaii last week. Delish Makeup Artistry was recommended by the wedding coordinators from Haiku Gardens (which is where I had my wedding at). I communicated with the team via phone (but left a voice message) then communicated via texts (which seemed faster and convenient for everyone). I was able to set a makeup and hair trial session 6 days before my big day. I was set up with the amazing Moana! I am a person who does not wear makeup a lot nor has great makeup skills lol. So I will admit, I was nervous. I mean, I had my share of experiences from Sephora and I was not always satisfied. So yes, I was skeptic. BUT...Moana did an amazing job with my hair and makeup trial! I loved it! She is friendly and hilarious. And she was honest with me. I showed her inspiration pictures and she let me know that the pictures I showed her were AI and reminded me that their skin is flawless and that she cannot make it exactly like the picture but she can work with what I have and make it beautiful in my own way. And she asked me questions and opinions on how I wanted to look. And the results of the trial session was amazing. For the rest of the day I walked outside and felt beautiful hehe. The day of, Moana, made me look and feel beautiful. I loved my makeup and my hair!! And my bridesmaids and my mom and mother-in-law were glammed up by the other amazing girls from DMA and omg...they all looked amazing! And they all loved it! And we were ready on time when the limo was to pick us up...okay, maybe a few minutes late. But the driver was not complaining hehe. Thank you girls from DMA that helped me and my girls look beautiful for the big day! Makeup and hair stayed on well too for all of us, especially with the heat and humidity that day. hehe. MAHALO!!!!
The week before the wedding was stressful, but my wife didn't expect to cry the most over Delish. There were several issues with communication and transparency, leaving us feeling disappointed and frustrated. We were looking to book the owner of the business, and given 2 choices: a standard package with the team or the more expensive LUX package to lock down the owner. The receptionist told us the owner, Heather, was available for the standard package and scheduled herself for our wedding, and it is rare for another bride to book a LUX package on the same day. Because of this, we felt comfortable to go with the standard package thinking we would get a heads up if anything changed. Fast forward to a year later, the week before the wedding. In the middle of the work day and meetings, we were emailed that another bride was interested in the owner, but we could still upgrade the package. We panicked and made a snap decision to upgrade - during the week before the wedding we wanted stability and knew nothing about the other artist, so we were OK throwing extra money at it. But as we took out our credit card, we got a follow up email stating LUX had been booked and we no longer had a choice. We didn’t know this was an exploding offer, and only had a 34 minutes to decide. My partner broke down crying. It felt callous to pit two brides against each other the week before the wedding. Our wedding coordinator suggested to Heather that she should call us. We heard nothing for a couple of days, and just got a text message from her later. Heather offered to have the new makeup artist come to our hotel instead of having us come into the studio as an apology. It wasn’t a big deal for us to go to the studio, but we accepted. However, we got a surprise $30 parking charge after the wedding! We wouldn’t have agreed if we knew about it beforehand. We asked for the new artist’s portfolio to feel a bit more comfortable with the last minute change, but it took Heather 4 days to send it over…a long time when you only have a few days before the wedding, with my wife weeping convinced she would not look her best at our wedding. In the end the makeup artist was nice, but the tears and nightmare the receptionist and owner put us through wasn’t worth it.
My bridal party and I had our makeup and hair done by Heather and her team. They did an absolutely amazing job, our hair and makeup stayed on perfectly throughout our whole wedding (lots of humidity!). Heather is so pleasant to work with - highly recommend!
AMAZING! A+++ Heather was wonderful. Responsive, funny, friendly, listened to my requests, made me look very good, gave me tips to keep my hair and makeup looking good til my 6:30pm wedding ceremony, and was able to accommodate my change of plans super last minute! (I texted her late at night like 11pm the night before my wedding, I didn't expect her to even reply but she did! and she did her best to fit me in to her busy schedule, she even came early!) It was my first time getting my hair and makeup done so I was nervous but she did such a great job and made me feel comfortable. I appreciated her so much. Thank you again, Heather! :-)
Ich habe heather engagiert, um mein Make-up für ein Familienporträt-Shooting zu machen. Sie kam in unser Hotelzimmer, richtete schnell ihre Ausrüstung her und legte sofort los. Sie ist so wundervoll, entspannt und man kann gut mit ihr reden. Sie hat mir wirklich zugehört und war sehr flexibel. Sie war sogar damit einverstanden, mein Make-up weiterzumachen, während ich das Baby hielt und stillte, lol – sie war so cool damit und ließ mich so, so schön aussehen. Ich bin sehr froh, dass ich sie gewählt habe! Ich kann sie wärmstens empfehlen!
