I have been a loyal customer to Derby for over 5 years. I have really enjoyed all the haircuts I have been given during that time. I have received a haircut from almost every barber in the shop and can say they all do a great job. The shop started lose its touch once it moved to the new location. My first time at the new shop I waited 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time to get called back for my haircut. No one apologized for the delay or even acknowledge the delay. The new shop also feels like a doctor’s office. You have to wait in the front room on weird shaped uncomfortable seats before getting called back by the nurse (barber) for your appointment. Then after your cut you are given a ticket to take to the front to pay for the service. Prior to this the barber would walk you to the front while having a conversation which felt more personable. I gave the shop a second chance at the new location. But the vibe just felt like the owner cared more about the ascetic of the new shop rather than putting the customer first. My rating for the old location is 5 stars. But since this is a review for the new location I’m giving 3 stars. The haircuts are still great but i can get a great haircut at many other places in town. I might try the shop again in the future but for now I will go elsewhere for a haircut.
Awesome spot. I feel like I leave this place looking amazing. And they have a little cafe/bar so you get a haircut and a drink if you want it. Big fan. Would recommend. Shout out to Rob. Dude's got a chill vibe.
Just visited the new Derby Barbershop for the first time and I’m thoroughly impressed. The whole place has an amazing Italian vibe — stylish, classy, and full of character. They serve coffee and drinks, which makes the experience feel more like hanging out in a lounge than just getting a haircut. The bar and lounge area are separate from the barber stations, and everything is designed with real attention to quality intentionality and detail. You can tell they put a lot of pride into creating something special here. Definitely making Reno more beautiful. Plus, Vinnie, his wife, and the staff are all so genuine, kind, and passionate about what they do.
Absolutely terrible customer service. I booked an appointment, and showed up only to find the old location closed. When I tried to rebook my Next appointment, Jocelyn told me I would be paying a late fee for a no show. I tried to explain that nobody notified me that they moved locations, and the guy at the front counter told me they posted about it on their socials, on their website, and sent out emails. Nobody notified me. I tried to come into them and talk to them in person, and their position was basically that you should have known. No problem, I will be taking my business elsewhere and I recommend everyone else does too. Charging your clients a no-show fee for your mistake is a great way to lose them. I can't believe that's their actual policy.
I just checked out the new location for Derby Barber and it is so beautiful. I came in just for coffee in the am and then ended up coming back in the evening for a cocktail! Everything was delicious and the atmosphere is amazing. My husband also gets his hair cut here and the barbers are top notch. The attention to detail in this beautiful space is unmatched. The customer service was great, the space is beautiful and the coffee and cocktails are delicious. 5/5 stars!
