A gem of a place. Quality people doing quality work. I asked them to glue up and refinish my reproduction antique tabletop. The purpose of the glue up was to turn the 4 pieces of the top into a solid piece. I had removed the skirt before bringing the pieces in. Dan Jr sent me back home for the skirt and they ended up fabricating the pieces to make a full 360 degree skirt. It looks amazing. Then they finished it all with a nice mahogany color stain and light gloss urethane.

We had a 27 year old bench that had been in our condominium's front hall and had seen better days. I took it to Falvey Finishing to be glued, refinished, and reupholstered. Mr. Falvey was a pleasure to work with. He understood just what I wanted done. He and his people did a beautiful job. The bench looks brand new. Outstanding 5-STAR company. The place to go if you have furniture that needs expert repair. And it was all done at a reasonable and fair price.

So I inherited an old maple drop leaf table and 2 rush seat chairs. The set was in need of a makeover and updating. I wanted to let the maple wood grain show but wanted a slight color to go with today’s look. For whatever reasons like a lot of things it’s hard to get someone to even call you back. Mr. Falvey himself called me and we discussed what I needed done. I had read good reviews of his business and didn’t want to entrust this job to just anyone. Now mind you this is a pretty big business with lots of employees and doing lots of work. Countless furniture pieces but also restoring old homes and churches in Boston. Therefore I was surprised but pleased that Mr. Falvey called me himself. I went ahead and decided to use him and dropped off the set. I wasn’t in a hurry and he upfront told me it would take a while. We also corresponded by email with updates. After the pieces were stripped down to the original maple wood Mr. Falvey had us come into the shop and decide what color stain we wanted. We described what we were thinking of and he said give me a minute. He promptly came back with a color that we thought was perfect. He said let’s put it in a similar piece of maple wood and see if you like it. We loved it even more and gave him the go ahead. I picked up the finished set the other day and was extremely satisfied with the end results. It is beyond what I was hoping for and keeps the integrity of the old but blends well in our home with the new. I have included some photos of the set before and after. In conclusion you could not make a better choice than Falvey Refinishing.

Dan and the team refinished a family heirloom hope chest that had sustained water damage in a cross country move. They did an amazing job and the piece is beautiful again. I’m so thrilled with the work and recommend them highly.

Ich wurde von einem Händler, der sich auf Mid-Century-Modern spezialisiert hat, auf Falvey aufmerksam gemacht. Sie haben sich sehr gut um ein Stück gekümmert, das aus jener Epoche stammt, schneller als versprochen und zu einem äußerst vernünftigen Preis. Ich werde künftig all meine Möbel dorthin bringen und habe sie schon meiner Familie und Freunden empfohlen. Andere Restaurierungsfirmen, die ich angerufen hatte, verstanden nicht, dass Mid-Century-Modern nicht dasselbe ist wie Antiquitäten aus der Kolonialzeit. Mehrere nannten mir mehr als das Doppelte, in einem Fall sogar mehr als den Wert der Möbel (was mehr als das Zehnfache dessen war, was ich an Falvey bezahlt hatte). Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass manche in diesem Geschäft davon ausgehen, man sei wohlhabend, wenn man ein Erbstück in Stand setzen lassen will. Das sind die Guten.
