Joining Heavy Mettle in June 2025 was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've always hated working out with a passion - I've dreaded it my entire adult life. Heavy Mettle changed that! I love the atmosphere so much - everyone is so kind, friendly, and helpful. I train with Kevin and he's great - super consistent, helpful, funny, and flexible. The other trainers are all awesome, too. I look forward to my sessions during the week because I know I'll spend the hour laughing and also getting my butt kicked. I'd recommend it to anyone regardless of fitness level. Thanks to Matt for building such a great place!
Irrespective of your goals--weight loss, muscle building & strength training, overall fitness improvement--you'll find the best personal trainer in Austin at this gym. I played pro rugby for 12 years and got to work with some great trainers, but Michael at Heavy Meddle and the rest of the team at the gym rival or are better than even the ones I worked with during those years. I'm breaking personal records or certain exercises after a few months of working with them at 45 years old. They're all a true pleasure and total pros to be around for a pretty intense hour of training.
I've been working with Heavy Mettle on my fitness journey for a few months now and have definitely seen the changes in my day to day life. From better posture to improving my technique when I hit the gym on my own. I currently train with Erin and I can't say enough amazing things about her and her encouraging words, and of course challenging routines. As far as nutrition goes, I've recently started working with Matt on this and it's been an eye-opener to say the least regarding how my food intake needs to improve. I have been doing personal training at Heavy Mettle Fitness in Austin for the past two months and I highly recommend them! My trainer Adrien is the best trainer I have found in a decade. I am post menopausal and have a few injuries and he is the only trainer I have found who has been able to help me build strength and mobility without suffering another injury or cortisol burnout from overtraining. He is incredibly knowledgeable and always comes to each session fully prepared. He’s patient, attentive, and really knows how to listen which makes every workout feel safe, effective, and tailored to my needs. I’ve made more progress in these past two months than I have in years, and I’m genuinely excited for every session. The gym itself is on the smaller side, clean and cozy, has a great vibe which I love as it feels personal and never overwhelming like a larger facility can. Despite its size, it has all the equipment you’d find in a larger gym, so every session feels well-rounded. Matt, who leads the team checks in every week on goals, nutrition so you feel really supported! I highly recommend personal training here!
I've been going to heavy Mettle fitness for about two months now and it’s been really great. I train with Garrett, and he’s been fantastic — very knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to form. I have scoliosis and really needed a personal trainer to watch my movements carefully. Although they’re not specifically certified in scoliosis, Garrett has been incredibly mindful of it and never makes me do anything that causes pain or goes past my comfort zone. He’s super friendly and flexible with scheduling. The overall vibe at Heavy Mettle is great too — all the trainers are friendly, supportive, and make the gym feel welcoming. Highly recommend this place.
