I cannot express how beautiful the photos that Joe took of our wedding are. Genuine art that will become heirlooms. I would book Joe 100x over again. Him and his team were also incredibly professional and communicative, and being able to have such beautiful photos of our loved ones is absolutely priceless. If you’re debating on booking Joe for your wedding- just do it!!!!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Joe Payne, who captured our wedding day at Carolina Grove in Hillsborough on 9/27/24. From the moment we first met Joe, his professionalism, artistry, and genuine passion for photography were evident. The first time we met Joe we scheduled a 1 hour engagement session... but we were having too much fun so we had to extend to 2 hours. Joe has an incredible ability to make you feel at ease in front of the camera. He captured every important moment of our wedding day with a perfect balance of elegance and authenticity, leaving us with memories we’ll cherish forever. PHENOMENAL wedding photographer! Every photo Joe takes is a work of art, and we have treasured the spectacular images he made for us. He has a great eye for capturing heartfelt moments, utilizing natural light, and working a scene. He is also a joy to work with, which is so important given how much time you will spend together on your wedding day. Joe put in TONS of effort for our wedding. He delivered over a thousand fully edited, beautiful images; that truly blew us away. Because he invests so much time and effort into each wedding, he does only a limited number of weddings – so book him far in advance! It was the best investment we made.

I was so thrilled to be able to have Joe for my wedding photographer! Once I knew I was getting married at the Duke Chapel, I knew I needed a photographer with plenty of experience shooting inside such a magnificent location. I loved Joe's photography style - our photos were done beautifully without feeling staged. Joe also captured lovely candid "in the moment" photos during our wedding that I will cherish forever. I also can't forget to mention how it rained for the entirety of my ceremony, and derailed all of our plans for shooting around the Chapel that day. Once again, I knew Joe would handle it, and him and his team were able to quickly pivot plans so I could still get first look and family photos even though it was pouring rain outside. Bonus points for getting the most lovely pictures with our dog, Obi. These are my most special photos :)

We had the privilege of working with Joe as our wedding photographer for our rehearsal dinner, wedding reception (also thanks to Joe's assistant Adam here!), and portrait session, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Joe's talent and professionalism were evident in every moment he captured. We initially booked Joe because when we saw his photography collection, we felt like we were transported into a moment in time with the artistry and quality. When we looked through our photos after our wedding, we experienced those same feelings of wonder and awe at the moments he captured, and excitement and joy that we felt reliving it through the photos. These are elements that we felt are rare to find in many wedding photographers on the market, and elements that Joe encompasses so easily. I think the other technical skill to highlight is his mastery of multiple camera/film types that allows him to be able to capture each moment in its own unique way. As a result, we've got a well-rounded collection of color, black and white, candid, posed, portraits, and group shots that highlight our weekend (see some of our favorite photos below- there are so many this was a difficult task narrowing down!). TLDR: If you want to have your photos to take your breath away, Joe's your guy to book!
