Jupiter Artland is a sculpture park found just outside East Calder in West Lothian I’ve had the pleasure of visiting on a few occasions: enjoying not only the art, but the quietude. The landscape offers a haven from the madness of modern life – one of those places where I believe that taking out your phone, even just to look at the time, is a desecration of the habitat. Add to that personal ‘deep breath out’ feeling I always gain when visiting, are the artworks themselves. They are found positioned at points along the meandering paths which snake easily through the park. Some of them have been there for years, but a few are changed each year – one reason why I look forward to returning each time. www.jupiterartland.org

Jupiter Artland is an extraordinary experience — a true masterpiece of landscape and creativity. Every path leads to surprises: large-scale sculptures, quirky installations, and hidden artworks tucked into the gardens that make you want to stop and explore every corner. It’s a place where art and nature perfectly collide, and the careful design of the landscape makes wandering feel like an adventure in a dreamlike world. The views are simply breathtaking, with rolling hills, forests, and open fields creating a backdrop that feels almost otherworldly. Whether you’re an art lover, a nature enthusiast, or just looking for a unique day out, there’s something here to delight and inspire at every turn. The space encourages curiosity and reflection — it’s peaceful, playful, and endlessly surprising. A visit to Jupiter Artland isn’t just seeing art — it’s walking through it, discovering it, and being part of it. Truly a place that stays with you long after you leave.

Seems to me like people mostly had problems with food and services. I came alone on an early Sunday afternoon, and apart from the unfortunate rain that passed by twice for a little while, I had an excellent time. You pay the entrance, they give you a map with descriptions of each art piece, and if you have questions, you can ask the staff guarding some of the exhibitions. It's quite simple, really. Perfect place for people who enjoy walking and sightseeing undisturbed. I mostly came for the amethyst cave, only then finding out about the whole rest of the exhibit. I really liked the thought of the map, and spent a full 2h30' taking in the whole of it (would have certainly taken less if I hadn't gone back on the trail those couple of times because of the sudden rain). I enjoyed myself the whole time there, the flowers and gardens, the labyrinth like paths and statues felt right out Alice in Wonderland, interesting art pieces and ideas, clearly not fir everyone based on some of the negative reviews. I've recommended it twice after visiting, so glad I decided to experience this. I'll gladly come back with family and friends on my next trip to Scotland.
