Honestly one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I’ve had. The place looks nothing like it does online. When you walk in, it’s cramped, low-ceiling, and smells unpleasant — the whole vibe feels dingy and claustrophobic. We sat down and ordered drinks, then planned to share an entrée since we were also getting sushi. That’s when they told us we can’t share food because of some weird house rule. Being told how you’re allowed to eat the food you’re paying for is ridiculous. We decided to leave, and suddenly the energy changed. The server made us pay for drinks we hadn’t even touched before fully setting them down. So we’re standing there awkwardly paying for stuff we didn’t even get to enjoy. Between the misleading online vibe, strange rules, and how it was handled, it felt unwelcoming and unnecessary. Not coming back.
Severely disappointed! I cant believe this place is still open for business. We had not had hibachi in a while and first tried Takeniwa to discover that it was closed. So back up option was Aka to discover that it was now Koi steakhouse. We gave it a shot and regret every bit. We sat in the dining area which was our first mistake. Our server was amazing and very attentive and was not his fault the food sucked. We got the triple combo appetizer which was bland, spicy crunchy roll which was bland. There was nothing on the menu that was similar to the hibachi so I settled for terriyaki chicken with the hibachi soup. It came with a very thin layer of cabbage, hard veggies and a pile of mash potatoes n gravy which was very odd. My eggrolls were burnt and not edible. Nothing had flavor. Will NEVER be back!
If you’re looking for great hibachi and sushi in Corpus Christi, Koi Japanese Steak & Sushi is a must-visit! The food is incredible — fresh, high-quality ingredients and full of flavor. The hibachi chefs are not only skilled but super entertaining, making the whole dinner an experience, not just a meal. We tried several sushi rolls and hibachi entrees, and everything was spot on. Great service, clean atmosphere, and fair pricing for the quality you get. Highly recommend for date night, family dinners, or any special occasion. One of the best dining spots in town!
Best sushi in town! We’ve gone here for 5+ years, it is immaculate every time! The Mexican roll and the crawfish dynamite our personal favorite! The staff is always so sweet and attentive!
I came in around 1 there hibachis were full but had one more seat left so they we able to fit me in. Angel my server was the nicest person ever! She made me a saki-tini which was one of the best saki drinks I’ve ever had. She took care of everyone very easy and didn’t waste time. Johnny our hibachi chef was also amazing. He made everything just the way I wanted it! I ordered the lobster tail with filet mignon, bulgogi, with fried noodles instead of fried rice. The lemon butter saki sauce for the lobster was the best part but the steak and bulgogi were both so soft I can’t decide which was my favorite! I’ll definitely be returning soon
