One of the best experiences ever!! I’ve been searching for an auto shop for years since I moved to Chicago three years ago. Every shop I’ve been to prior has given me trouble as far as overcharging me and underdelivering with service. At L&T it was absolutely nothing like this. I went to Johnny the day before I brought my car in for service and spoke to him about the issues I was having. He explained to me what he thought would be the problem but was very honest in letting me know he wouldn’t have the time to take me in that same day. He had a lot of other cars and suggested that if I came in at 9am the following day, he would have me in. That was the first green flag I noticed with Johnny, he’s honest and transparent. As the owner being the person always in the front speaking to your customers with that level of transparency shows that you are truly dedicated to your work and not trying just to gain a quick buck. I show up the following day at 9am and immediately he takes my car keys to leave all day to work on it. This is where the second green flag showed. Johnny showed me a lot of kindness due to the fact that I couldn’t go all the way home in -2 degree weather on public transportation. He gave me the heads up that the service would take hours but he let me sit there the entire time and made sure I was comfortable. I know it’s not common to do that but that’s all my situation allowed and Johnny understood. After 3 hours of sitting there someone on his staff took a test drive of my car to see what was wrong. Johnny comes back and explains everything in detail about what they felt. As a young woman, I am always nervous about this step but Johnny broke it down for me and made every issue clear. He left no room for me to be confused. He showed me my brake pads that clearly needed to be replaced and also told me that the previous service I had gotten done from somewhere else broke my ABS sensor and used tape to cover it up. Which made sense as to why all my sensor lights were on in my car. Johnny gave me a price and I gave him the okay to do all the fixes and he said it would take 2 more hours. I patiently waited and came back and they were done. His team did one more test drive just to make sure everything was correct. I drove my car and you can feel a huge difference. All of my sensor lights that were previously on were no longer on. Everyone at L & T Auto Service I can tell takes pride in the work that they do and it is appreciated. Johnny thank you for your hospitality, patience, and kindness you showed to me. My parents greatly appreciate it!! I have found a shop that I will keep coming back to every time.
Johnny was very transparent about the options for fixing my license plate and how much each option would cost. He was also very transparent about when he’d be able to get me in based on his busy schedule so I had a realistic timeline for repairs. He provided great friendly service - will be going back for any future repairs!
Johnny and the L&T Auto crew are phenomenal. I initially took my car at the Toyota dealership, but they quoted me $1700 for the work to be done on my car (including $92 to change a license plate bulb). I called around, got a quote from Johnny that saved me $500 coming to L&T instead of doing the work at the dealership. Johnny was transparent from the beginning, extremely fair and didn't even charge me to change the license plate bulb. One of the best mechanic experiences I've had and I'll be coming here from now on. Not just a great mechanic, but a genuine person and I can see why there are so many other 5 star reviews.
