My go-to coffee shop. Austin, Paul, and Nick are THE best baristas in town. They are so welcoming and know how to brighten your day! Always a great latte, and they do seasonal flavors. Perfect place to sit and chat with a friend or get some work done on your laptop!

First time and will be back. Everyone working was fun and pleasant. Annnd...Latte art 🙃. They have a nice space. Clean comfortable. Centrally located. I got a cortado and a matcha and the other drink is a seasonal latte. We stayed for a couple of hours - great space for friends, families and dates. Centrally located. Ample street parking. They have a seasonal drink menu along with their regular menu... they have pastry options available as well.

I now come here almost daily. They have the best espresso in Milwaukee and I drink their Americano black. I changed it up today and got a pumpkin spice latte, and it came out SO PRETTY! Lake Effect is separate from the church but they do partner with others in the community including a Macha pop up, and they even allowed me to do a little pop up to celebrate AAC awareness month! I can't forget to mention their awesome bakery, with some muffins and cookies baked in house and their tasty treats from City Market and Carries Crispies!

It's a nice quiet spot to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. The location is beautiful with a very clean and modern aesthetic. The shop is connected to a local church, so you will see some items for sale inspired by the Christian faith and to help victims of human trafficking. There was only 1 employee on staff during my visit. So when a very small rush came in, we did have to rely solely on his speed and accuracy. Staff was overall very friendly and had a very relaxed demeanor. I ordered the salted caramel latte. Overall, the latte fell a little flat. It was made with a little too much milk, and there was not much salt flavor. It was not terrible, but it was also not the best latte I've ever had. We also ordered a lavender fields latte. That one seemed to have more balance with a more robust flavor. Overall, based on the atmosphere alone, it is definitely worth a visit. Would recommend not trying on Sunday since its connected to a church, and they seem to keep a lighter staff.

There are lots of coffee shops, and there are some that are very good. This was my first time at Lake Effect and I was very impressed. Will definitely be back. It's an old shaped space, due to it's location at the intersection of national and greenfield. It's long and narrow, which allows more private/cozy seating areas, and there is plenty of light. It has a clean, modern feel to it. It was Saturday, late morning, and there were a few other people there. After entering, got an immediate greeting by both the barista and the person at the register. Sure, it wasn't busy, but after meeting these two, I suspect that they go out of their way to warmly/sincerely greet everyone. I ordered a London Fog Latte, and they made it perfectly to my order (a little vanilla, a little lavender, and extra foam). They prepared it in a glass mug, and I swear, it was a work of art. I also had a walnut cranberry scone. They offered to warm it up, which took several minutes in the toaster oven (better than a microwave), and it was worth the wait. The scone was an "actual" scone. Not one of other muffins, or breads that try to disguise themselves as a scone. This was a little crusty on the outside (with Turbinado sugar), dry, and somewhat crumbly. (I asked and apparently they get these from "City Market", where I have also had good bakery). I know that I have spent a long paragraph on my order, but hey, this is why some of search out for a good coffee shop experience. We had a group of four, and found a quiet spot towards the rear. Other people showed up around us, but everyone seemed to be mindful of their voices. A super first time experience. Definitely a place that I would come back to visit.
