We used Langsford services for 6 months to improve the reading level of our daughter when she was in third grade. We saw an appreciable improvement of her reading ability over time, and most importantly she now enjoys reading! Two years later, and she is reading well above her grade level. The service is expensive, but definitely worthwhile.

Our daughter has a strong family history of dyslexia on her mom’s side and was diagnosed a few years ago. By the end of 1st grade she told her mom she didn’t feel ready to move on to 2nd grade, so she repeated 1st. Even after that, she was still struggling with reading and writing at the end of 2nd grade. Even with her EAP, she was continuing to fall further behind, and homework and reading time were often frustrating for her. After an evaluation with Langsford, we decided to invest in Hattie’s education and enrolled her in a customized 5-day-a-week, 6-month program. As she went through the program, we started noticing real improvements. Just as important, the program helped build her confidence. The instructors helped her understand her dyslexia and gave her tools to work with it rather than feel discouraged by it. By the end, it was amazing to see not only how much she had improved, but also how proud she was of herself for setting a goal and accomplishing it. Fast forward to the middle of 4th grade, and she almost always has a book in her hand and genuinely loves to read. Right now she’s excited about reading Little Women, which is something we never would have imagined a few years ago. We couldn’t be happier with what Langsford gave her. It truly made a lasting difference for our daughter, and we’re very grateful for the role they played in helping her find confidence and joy in reading.

Langsford professionals are educators all in what my son has realized is an invaluable extension of the regular school curriculum. This is no average tutoring experience. The Langsford protocol and discipline actually "flips a switch" with their students and as with my son the ability to read and write on grade level (and beyond) is achieved early and is demonstrative and real. Owner Stephen McCrocklin drives value and results passionately. Every dollar invested has resulted in major success for my son. "Run don't walk"

Langsford made a HUGE difference in our daughter's reading skills, I can't believe where she was a year ago. Our daughter seemed to struggle with letters and reading from the beginning, it was noticed in school in KG, but seemed to stick around year after year. She was utilizing interventions at school, but it always seemed like she would work so hard just to finish the year AT (not below) grade level for reading. My husband and I started to wonder if there was "something else" going on, since it wasn't like she wasn't trying - she was working really hard, and just didn't seem to "get it." In 2nd grade we started to feel really strongly that the school was not providing the right kind of assistance to help the situation (it was actually causing a lot of anxiety and anger for her around reading) and we sought out other means of testing to see if there was something we were all missing. We have friends whose children are both dyslexic and went through tutoring at Langsford, which is how I knew about it. Langsford did testing that revealed that our daughter had an under-developed phonetic awareness, we also did additional testing with a psychiatrist and found out she has dyslexia. The learning plan that was presented to us was comprehensive. There was a recommended number of 1:1 sessions, with the expectation that when those sessions were done, there would be some follow up "fluency practice" 2x a week for 2-3 months. It's a commitment...but it's 100% worth it! The planed 1:1 sessions are scheduled every day - 5 days a week for 50 min each. They are upfront about pricing, they send you a quote to review and there is no pressure to commit, there are no hidden fees. It is expensive - but it is honestly a reasonable rate for a 1:1 tutor when you look at the price per session. You are also not locked in to the total number of sessions in your quote, if it's not working for your child you can cancel your sessions. You have an option to do in person sessions at the location in Louisville (Bardstown Rd) or online in a virtual meeting room. Also - this is not a "forever" program, which seems rare in a subscription world. They develop a finite plan and execute it and the improvement by the end when they release them is amazing. They always have workshops that you can attend if you want, you can always reach out and go back if you need more support. What I really loved: You are assigned a learning coordinator who is your point of contact the whole time your child is going through sessions. Ours has been amazing - she tells us the honest truth about how our child is doing in sessions and what she needs to progress. She is there anytime we have questions about anything or even looking for her opinion/expertise for things going on at school. She was also able to provide some recommendations for other services we were seeking and she was just overall an amazing advocate for our daughter. What else I loved: The positivity and gentle nature of all the staff, instructors and learning coordinators at Langsford! When your child is having difficulty in school it can seem like an endless string of complaints from the school and teachers. No one says anything positive about your child during parent/teacher conferences and it starts to wear on your heart. You know your child, you know they have so many positive attributes and it's hard to be their defender in all these situations. Not at Langsford! It was just so nice to have every meeting start with talking about your child's strengths, what they're good at, who they are as a person and how amazing they really are. I know it doesn't sound like much, but if you're here reading this review, then you might be having the same experiences we were having with our child and I know it breaks your heart. Ok and now the bottom line: Our daughter can read...really well. She's comfortably at grade level and improving every day. We saw results immediately and things just got better and better from there. Now she ENJOYS reading, often reading in her spare time!

Our son worked with Langsford, and we couldn’t be happier. He is now thriving at his new school. We’re grateful for the incredible work and dedication of Mary and the Langsford team. They truly helped build his confidence and set him up for success.

Miracle workers. Son went from not being able to read or spell basic words in Kindergarten to testing above average by 1st/2nd grade. Tune up sessions after 3rd grade have him reading Percy Jackson novels in 4th. Couldn't recommend more if your child learns differently.
