Great therapists, but not the best office staff. My therapist, Modinat Showemimo, is incredible and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. Unfortunately, I’ve had some uncomfortable and weird experiences with those who work in her office. I was just completely gaslit by one of the receptionists as I returned a call to reschedule my appointment today and was met with “you never had an appointment.” I let her know I wasn’t trying to argue, that I’m returning a phone call about an appointment I had that was double booked by my therapist and they called originally wanting to help me reschedule. This receptionist wanted to die on the hill and repeated that I never had an appointment in the first place. I let her know that was very strange and uncomfortable and NO absolutely I did not want to set up an appointment through her anymore as she was trying to fight me for zero reason on something that wasn’t up for a debate?? like we are all mentally ill people trying to get help and I’m not gonna go somewhere where people are trying to gaslight me and make me feel more crazy. I have the voicemail from Alicia to prove they were calling to help me reschedule an appointment that existed today. To Modinat, you are so great but I don’t want to talk to your staff anymore after this and other uncomfortable situations with them that I’ve already brought up to you. I hope you find a place to work with a staff that matches how kind & compassionate you are -Lyndi
Meghan is wonderful. She has really listened and given me time to talk and think and I had a light bulb moment with her today. Thank you Meghan!!!
Being matched with a therapist was easy and simple, reminder texts were also very helpful as they send multiple even one about an hour before your appointment and 15 minutes before which is helpful for my ADHD brain! My psychiatrist was amazing and super helpful!
I do not like the unprofessionalism of how the office is run. The 1st incident happened on one of our scheduled appointment times where our therapist reached out to us via text stating that he was sick, and needed to cancel - he nor anyone from his office ever reached back out to reschedule. I have worked for several doctor's offices, and if the doctor needed to cancel an appointment with a patient the office would reach out to the patient to reschedule their appointment. A month went by when I eventually reached back out to LifeStance making them aware of what took place, and that it left a bad taste, so we wanted to see about seeing someone else to which they replied, "We're sorry that, that happened with his office; however, the policy is that there is a time period before we'd be able to get you someone different. So, we decided to give our therapist another chance. We schedule another appointment, and unfortunately around that time my nephew was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and I had to call the morning of our 7pm appointment to reschedule so that I could go to the hospital. The person with LifeStance informed me that since I hadn't called 24hr prior, I would be charged a fee. So, now to the 2nd incident...On the day of our rescheduled zoom appointment we sat and waited...and waited for 30min only for our therapist to "no show". And when we clicked to exit the call we were asked what our reason for leaving the call was; so, we selected the option that the therapist didn't show. And AGAIN, not him or anyone from his office reached out to us the next day to explain or reschedule. We have yet to receive a call, text or email stating what happened or asking to reschedule, but we have received an email for a bill. So, the patient is charged as a "No Show" for not cancelling 24hrs prior, but where's the accountability on the part of the office and therapist. Very unprofessional and unacceptable practice when you have people seeking help. We will not be going back.
I never received the Zoom link that was supposed to arrive 30-minutes before my session (I keep my contact information current). Additionally, when my provider was absent for an extended period of time, I got a robotic email notification that I should call back and reschedule at a later time. It left me uneasy thinking he may never come back. I was confused and misguided by the service, left with uncertainty during a trying period of life where I really needed support. Fast forward many weeks - He’s back!
