He clearly explained that the issue was not just a cracked shingle, but a failure in the back pan flashing itself. The quote was reasonable and clearly itemized. Once approved, the repair crew showed up promptly. They were incredibly efficient, respectful of my property, and took great care to lay down tarps. The actual repair involved removing the old, faulty flashing, installing new customized metal flashing, and resealing all points of entry. Multiple jobs have been done on my roof - repairs, tune ups etc. and all have solved leaks + have had the fix for over a year and it is still holding up perfectly.
