Sean managed to distill what I am sure is years of knowledge into a week long class . I feel more confident and grounded in this somewhat nebulous medium than I ever have. He was able to meet a varied class at each person's level and raise the bar for each one of us. I saw everyone delight in their newfound understanding. If you are fortunate to have the chance to join Sean’s class, I would highly recommend it.

I just took Sean's class at Ghost Ranch, what a terrific experience! Sean is not only an amazing artist but also a wonderful educator. He taught us the basics of watercolor painting in an engaging and relaxed way, and shared lots of techniques to be able to simplify the landscape and capture nuances with watercolor. He listened to questions from all students in the class and provided individualized feedback and advice, and even tested things beforehand to ensure he could provide us with the best answers. The setting at Ghost Ranch is magical. I will definitively try to sign up for one of his longer workshops, because time flew and I just wanted to keep on painting! Highly recommend his class for anyone interested in watercolor painting, regardless of skill level!

Sean's class was just what I hoped for and more- a comfortable and welcoming experience learning new watercolor skills and connecting with other artists. The surroundings of Ghost Ranch can be intimidating for a first time landscape painter, but Sean broke it down into shapes and even geological formations to help us structure our compositions. I left with confidence that I can interpret my surroundings to match my unique style of painting, and lots of tips and tricks that I use everyday. I would recommend Sean's class to any skill level painter, and I look forward to the next!

Sean Hudson has crafted a great plein aire class from doing it for many years. From the nuanced and detailed handout to the array of places to paint, the list is long of satisfying aspects. Sean’s good listening and attention to each artist is a signature of his teaching. My friend signed up too, and the day we rode together we were inspired by the plant community. We were glad Sean picked the spot. I will seek out another class of his again in near future.

Sean was a focused, patient, insightful leader in the workshop (3-day) which I attended. He was prepared, thoughtful, flexible and talented when sharing his methods, influences and making suggestions or observations about our paintings. I would definitely recommend this artist as a teacher for a watercolorist of any level!
