I have loved working with Kimberley Tran of McAuley Financial Services over the past year and a half. It took me a while to start working with a financial advisor as I simply did not know where to start or if I could even find anyone I could wholly trust to guide me in my financial decision-making, a person I would feel truly has my best interests at heart. I first encountered McAuley Financial and Kory Knox CFP, RIS, when I changed jobs. McAuley Financial is the company they deal with for shared contributions. I was a little late to the investing game but still wanted to take advantage of the 5% shared contribution my company was offering. Kory never made me feel as if it was hardly worth his time. We talked and eventually I moved my RRSP from the bank to McAuley Financial. When I contacted Kory and said I was thinking of retiring at 65, he said let’s book some time to talk and work things out. He was very good with explaining what we should do and if I did not need CPP/OAS wait till I retired and then formed a plan to make the best of it. My company Canadian Head office was in Ottawa as is McAuley Financial, I live and worked out of Halifax. This posed no problems with McAuley Financial as all meetings were held virtually. Kory always sent emails every few months asking how we were doing and if he could help with anything. Dealing with the bank in Nova Scotia we never could talk to the same person, and it always took weeks to find someone to talk to. So, when I decided to retire it was easy to make the decision to stay with McAuley Financial instead of the banks. We also downsized from a house into an apartment and Kory and McAuley Financial had done well with the RRSP’s and treated us well we decided to invest the profits from the sale of the house with McAuley Financial & Kory talked with us came up with a strategy that not needing that money right away he could invest it and in a few years it would be able to give us a good return on investment. Having McAuley Financial and Kory Knox to help me through everything was a 10/10 experience and I have no issue saying that without them and leaving it to the banks we would not have received anything close to the information and help McAuley gave us. I’m positive our investments are in the right hands.
