Mike is a fantastic teacher! I learnt guitar (acoustic) with Mike for about 8 months, after seeing little progress trying to learn by myself. Lessons with Mike are fun and insightful. He'll work with you and consider your goals to create individualised and engaging lessons that'll have you improving in no time! I look back on my lessons with a great sense of achievement, which is down to Mike's patience, knowledge and skill as a music teacher
I've been taking guitar lessons from Mike for a couple of years now, and here a couple of reasons I would highly recommend him: 1. Mike is very knowledgeable about music theory of course, but he's also got so much knowledge about popular and alternative music and the history of music. He won't push anything on you unless you're interested, but it's nice to have a teacher with so much general music knowledge. 2. His method of teaching is easy to follow and lessons are always fun and engaging. 3. He's an incredibly nice person. I honestly couldn't imagine a better music teacher.
I’ve been taking piano lessons with Mike for around 15 months and feel super lucky to have him as my teacher. I started as a complete beginner and Mike has methodically built up my piano fundamentals while I’ve progressed through the first few grades. He has an amazing ability to break down complex concepts and explain things in a way that’s easy to follow. Mike’s also a committed and engaged teacher who’s always making sure you’re getting what you want out of your piano journey. Lastly, Mike’s just a super nice guy and a pleasure to chat to. I feel so grateful and lucky to be able to learn guitar from Mike. He is a fantastic (professional, touring) musician but yet he is an incredibly patient and understanding teacher. I started as an absolute beginner and, 3 years later, my only regret is not having started earlier. Mike has a deep and broad understanding of music and theory (in guitar, piano, vocals) but he always puts the student and their goals first. I started learning with acoustic guitar, then some with electric, and now even enjoy learning to sing (I never imagined being comfortable enough to do this!). I can't imagine other music schools being able to match the depth of knowledge and personal attention you get from Mike. I can't recommend him highly enough.
I've been doing singing/guitar lessons with Mike for over a year now and he's been amazing at helping me to reach my music goals. I was a self taught singer and guitarist when I met Mike and I was looking to learn how to sing properly. Mike was just the man I needed! At first I was very nervous to sing in front of others, but Mike made it very easy for me and helped me to train and fine-tune my vocals. As I was progressing in my singing, we began to do some guitar lessons too so I could progress both simultaneously. Mike was fantastic at letting me chose what I wanted to dedicate my time towards in the lessons, and sent me home each week with great notes on how to improve. Mike is a great teacher, I wouldn't be where I am today without his teachings. He's super friendly, knowledgeable and great to chat to. Can easily highly recommend Mike as a teacher!!
