On December 23rd, we visited Mezzalira despite the closure of most restaurants. We were eager for delicious Italian food and they certainly delivered! The elegant setting and attentive staff made for a wonderful dining experience. We started with the wood-fired oven bread, drizzled with whipped ricotta and honey. Next, we savoured the spanner crab tonnarelli and the beef tagliata. Each dish was simply delectable. I wish I had photos to capture the moment but we devoured the food while enjoying each other’s company. Highly recommended!
Dropped into Canberra on a Wednesday evening and was looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 30th Wedding anniversary. Upon arrival the girls were very accommodating and then Joe, the owner, introduced himself. When he knew why we were there he surprised us with a swordfish and a zucchini flower entree. The flavours were amazing! The mains and desserts were nothing short of spectacular. Joe suggested the wines and they complemented our meal wonderfully. Complements to the chef. An overall 10/10 experience.
Mezzalira is a longstanding favourite of ours and it's still maintaining its excellent standards. This is authentic Italian dining at its best. Most recently, we particularly loved garfish fillets as an entree and a superb lamb shoulder as a main. The wine list is extensive and high quality. Service is always friendly and efficient. The tables are well spaced and the dining experience excellent. Well done!
The food was great. The advantage was that it brought out the flavor of the ingredients without being salty. The interior of the restaurant was also luxurious. However, the American way of calculating the tip while showing the menu where you can enter the tip after bringing the bill to your seat was a bit inconvenient. Is it really necessary to import the tipping culture?
We have been coming here for many years, by far the best Italian restaurant in Canberra. The staff are amazing, and they change their specials each day. They have an extensive wine list, and a beautiful view onto the landscaped gardens across the street. Highly recommend.
