Great local spot on E Johnson. We love this place, the food is delicious, with generous serving sizes and consistent quality. My bf and I have been here multiple times, and we love going back every time. Tonight I got the nachos, my bf got the chimichanga, and we also got a complimentary soup at the start of the meal! The ambiance is great and the staff is so so friendly - excited to go back and sample more of what they have to offer on their menu!
We’re so glad we have Mi Barrio a try!! The burrito was excellent (so good we ate it before I remembered to take photos!), and the taco platter was delicious — especially with the salsas, which are **amazing**. Everything was warm, ready when we got there, and everyone was very nice. We didn’t stay, but it a nice atmosphere! We’re definitely going come come back soon.
The tacos are chock full of meat. We got the taco dinner with lengua, chorizo, and pastor. The tacos were so good (especially the lengua). The beans and rice were also perfect. I've never had such flavorful beans. The salsa verde enchiladas were also yummy. The chicken inside the enchiladas was juicy and flavorful. Very excited to have them in the neighborhood!
Absolutely amazing! Great addition to East Johnson! My husband and I grabbed dinner here after work around 6 p.m. Walking in, my first impression was of a colorful, cute, and spotless atmosphere. It is beautifully decorated and gives off a fun, authentic Mexican restaurant vibe. There was joyful music playing, and you can tell a lot of thought and care went into the decorations. They even have outlets and USB plug-ins for charging, and high chairs for littles. The restaurant is larger than it looks, with plenty of seating on each side. The cashier was extremely kind and welcoming. They have all the classics you expect, plus some fun, original twists. The prices are fantastic for the quality and generous portions. We ordered our food to go and got the taco dinner, quesabirria, churros, and flan. Everything was made fresh and came out quickly. The packaging was neat and thoughtful, with each container labeled and a little smiley face that genuinely made me smile. When we got home and started eating, everything was delicious. I planned to save half of my taco dinner for lunch the following day, but it was so good I ate the whole thing. I chose birria for my tacos, and it was incredibly flavorful and tender. The corn tortillas were soft and complemented the meat perfectly. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, like a meal made with genuine care. The beans were spot-on and honestly, the best refried beans I have ever had. My husband loved his quesabirria. It was loaded with cheese and flavor. Both dishes had generous portions, and we were absolutely stuffed. They also included three salsas, two red and one green. The green salsa had a fresh, tangy kick, and the red salsas added just the right amount of heat. The sauces tied everything together and elevated the meal even more. The churros were a 10 out of 10, seriously the best I have ever had. They were soft on the inside with a light crisp on the outside, truly the perfect churro. The dessert comes with three churros, but they surprised us with an extra one, giving us two strawberry and two plain. They also came with a rich chocolate dipping sauce. The flan was creamy, rich, and topped with a delicious caramelized layer. It’s clear they put so much care into the food and customers. Mi Barrio is the best authentic Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. We will definitely be back and I look forward to trying more dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant for its great food, wonderful service, and welcoming atmosphere.
