I’ve been climbing at the Denton location since 2019, back when it was still Summit. Back then it felt like a real community gym and I always looked forward to coming in. Since Movement took over, things just haven’t been the same, and not for the better. The membership price has nearly doubled - from 40 dollars a month to 80 dollars. The only real upgrades have been HVAC and electrical work, which are fine but do not make the higher cost feel worth it. On top of that, some of the gym equipment was swapped out for treadmills and row machines that honestly feel cheaper than what was there before. They also got rid of members-only climbing hours. I used to climb regularly between 7 and 8 in the morning, and I really enjoyed how quiet and accessible it was during that time. That is gone now. Even the vibe of the gym has changed. Before, employees would play their own playlists, and that gave the space character even if I did not love their music. Now it just feels like corporate-approved radio, and the gym feels less personal. From what employees have told me, it also sounds like their hours have been cut so no one is full time anymore, and raises have not kept up with the higher membership costs. I cannot confirm every detail, but it does feel like both staff and members are getting less while paying more. Then, not too long ago, a window was broken and never fixed. It was sealed off with cardboard and tape. It's not much, but coupled with everything else, feels like a slap in the face every time I visit. Overall, the price is higher, the perks are gone, the equipment is worse, and the sense of community that made this place special has really faded. I cannot continue supporting this company in good faith. If I really want to climb, then I'll find somewhere else to go.

Great small boulder climbing location. Has also a nice gym.

Overall movement has been a very enjoyable franchise to visit! The staff are so friendly. They have gone above and beyond when I've had specific things I needed support with (e.g. sustaining an injury that limited my mobility). I enjoy stopping by with my husband even when he climbs and I don't. Went to the Denton location today and Zack assisted me at the front desk. He was amazing and helped me in a way that felt very encouraging for me to keep coming back. Highly recommend if you want a gym that has a friendly and welcoming vibe.

Movement, known best for it's rock climbing, also houses weights/treadmills, and yoga classes! I can certainly vouch for the exceptional bouldering experience. Fresh routes weekly! The folx that attend are very welcoming to beginners and experts alike, good attitudes and fun times had by all. If you have a question, the knowledgeable staff is a great resource. Seriously, whether you're stuck on a difficult route or can't remember where the bathroom is, they're happy to help. 💯 For those looking for a less overwhelming times, I'd recommend any time but 5-7pm weekdays. Very busy then, but there's still enough space to climb, just a bit overstimulating at those times.

Great experience, my first month of bouldering. It’s been the toughest activity I’ve physically have tried (coming for an avid cyclist). Every time I go I see improvements in my climbing. If you’ve ever wanted to try a new activity, get some exercise, get out of the house, and be surrounded by a super inviting group of people, try a few climbs and see if this place doesn’t fit the bill. Update: 2023: still going, weekly changing of the walls, they could probably find a bigger place with how busy it’s getting. Update Nov 2021: still going and getting stronger, it’s a great strength building activity, every trip has me sore, and that’s usually 20-40 min of climbs, they change up the climbs weekly which helps make every trip exciting.
