Great little bouldering gym. Small but quality, very creative setting. Staff I encountered today was super friendly and helpful. Training section is compact but comprehensive, honestly better equipment than some larger bouldering gyms I’ve climbed at. This was a great addition to my trip to New Orleans.
Not as advertised for children! We were looking forward to bringing our son here to climb for several months. The website advertises how great of a space this is for children, as they host a kids climbing club (we were excited to potentially join), offer birthday parties, etc. We finally brought him, and he couldn’t have been more excited. There is only one wall available for young kids, which was fine. He did great! He started getting confident and was getting higher when he got a little scared and needed a confidence boost. In providing support near him, the staff scolded me that I wasn’t allowed to “spot” him. He’s four, and this was his very first time in a structured space like this. He needed a little help, as children and inexperienced climbers would be expected to. We didn’t expect the staff to support him, but had they not wanted us to, they could have at any time. They didn’t. Throughout our time there, the other patrons and staff were clearly disappointed to have a child participating. Bad vibes all around. Judging by the welcoming website, we had higher hopes.
Happy place for my whole family— dad is a new climber and nobl makes him so comfortable learning the walls, seven year old son is in a fantastic youth class led by the most miraculously optimistic coaches, and mom, who doesn’t climb, still gets plenty of time to read, watch, and be proud! It’s a dream for a parent, honestly— clean and comfortable indoor place, engaging, physically challenging, and organically scaffolded for skill and age.
I really liked my time here. It was lacking some ventilation, but I generally really loved how small, humble and friendly everyone was here and they had some challenging slabs that strangers and myself started teaming up on. NOLA doesn't really have a lot of climbing that I'm aware of and I visit there because of some recurring work stuff. So I love getting to find those places that make work-travel just as friendly and enriching to life. Thanks folks.
The cutest and tiniest climbing gym I’ve been to thus far! There’s not a lot of gyms in New Orleans so the moment my spouse and I found one on Google, we were super excited. We were staying at NO for less than a week. NOBL has a pricing tiered system, you pay what you can. For adult day passes, anywhere between $16-24usd for day passes. Of course, we paid the $24usd because we wanted to support the one and only climbing gym we could find near our accommodation. I love it because they take into consideration for those can’t afford paying too much. Thank you for being inclusive. The problems here are true to grade. Not too soft. I had an injury and couldn’t climb the usual grades I am use to but still had lots of fun! Staff were friendly, masks were required given cases went up but they provided some at the front desk if you need it. Training facilities was nice and spacious, they should really consider throwing a moon board at the back to make monthly payments worth it for members. I also liked how they have tables and chairs at the front for those who want to sit down and chat/have a coffee or work on their laptops. Tip: sign the online waiver beforehand to save time! Only con: it was 35 degrees outside, the gym’s air con wasn’t strong enough for the scorching hot weather. We ended up asking the staff if we could turn in the fan and it made a bit of a difference but I was still sweating buckets!
