I attended the summer portfolio prep course and some extra courses in the fall at the school and learned so many skills in both technical and conceptual ability. The teachers were very knowledgeable and attentive. The pieces I made here helped me get accepted to Parsons with a scholarship which I wouldn’t have been able to do without them. Overall a really good space with diverse resources in a lot of different art disciplines and amazing staff and teachers.
The teachers were very attentive and my son felt like he got a lot of useful guidance. The studio environment helped him focus in a way that he never experienced before. By the end of the summer, he had eight pieces for his portfolio and application. Ultimately, he was admitted to LaGuardia high school of the arts in Manhattan, with 100% on his portfolio. We are very happy with the results!

With your teaching and support, my daughter has been accepted into her dream schools for Fall 2025—The Cooper Union’s Architecture Program and Pratt Institute’s Architecture Program with generous scholarships. She also won a Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Gold Key, and her work will be exhibited at The Met. Our Story: My daughter, J., excelled in her SATs, maintained a high GPA, and participated in various extracurricular activities. Since 2023, I had been searching for the right art school to support her ambitions. That’s when I came across the New York Art Studio (NYAS) website. Impressed by their exceptional instructors from diverse artistic backgrounds and strong track record, I kept NYAS in mind. In early 2024, I visited NYAS in person. The consultation staff patiently discussed my daughter’s artistic level, academic standing, and career goals. They also gave me a tour of the studio, which felt both comfortable and professional. After my daughter completed her final SAT, we enrolled her at NYAS for four hours per week. However, I soon realized that we should have started a year earlier. To accelerate her progress, we increased her schedule to 12 hours per week. I saw her improvement firsthand. The instructors—Ms. Kigin Yang, Ms. Hyoju Cheon, Mr. Kyeom Kim, and Mr. Siwoong Park—were friendly, patient, professional, and strict. They didn’t offer empty praise; they simply encouraged hard work. Initially, I was concerned about the workload, as my daughter had many other academic responsibilities. However, she reassured me that NYAS was not stressful for her. Instead, it became a creative escape where she could fully enjoy making art. After seven months of dedicated effort under the guidance of these talented instructors, my daughter built an impressive portfolio. It has been a long and challenging journey, but thanks to NYAS’s teaching, creative concepts, and skill development, my daughter will attend her dream school in Fall 2025. Thank you, NYAS!
Today marked my last day at the Art Studio, where I packed up my art works and reflected on my journey. I looked at my very first painting, remembering how I started from zero right there in New York Art Studio. Now, I can genuinely say I’m living the happiest time of my life, feeling fulfilled, all thanks to studying art. I want to express just how much I've enjoyed my time in the studio and how deeply grateful I am for everything I’ve learned there. This experience has sparked a desire to pursue art more seriously, and I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to explore something that brings me such joy. Being there has truly changed my life. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey with me.
This studio has a great environment to practice art and learn new concepts. As an international student I joined their F-1 visa supported program. Have learnt so much in the short while I have been here. Teachers are great, provide guidance, work with you to cultivate and execute your ideas into artwork. The school works with you and makes your life easier. Definitely would recommend this studio to anyone who has any inclination to practice or improve your art skills, you will not be disappointed. Also below are some of my artworks that I started off in the first week. Quite happy with the results and couldn’t have imagined I’d be sketching this in the first week itself :)
