I had a great time at Niku! I sat at the grill counter and was impressed by it all! The food was incredible, the most “meat in your mouth” steak I’ve ever had. The amuse bouche was so tasty and a nice treat - and they have one for dessert too! The service was great and the sommelier provided great advice for the pairing, I had the beef tartare - which was incredible and served with crispy tendons, delicious. It’s also served with an egg yolk on top which was sous vide, giving it a nice jammy texture. Then I had the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection, along with the confit maitake mushroom, also very tasty with a little crispness! Overall the experience was great, the prices are reasonable for a Michelin restaurant! I definitely want to go back to try the wagyu tasting.
Best steakhouse in San Francisco. All their dishes are well crafted and a great place to come even if you don’t want to eat wagyu. Friendly attentive service and very efficient. Also threw in a few extra small bites for free.
My wife and I went to Niku to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The restaurant exceeded all expectations. We enjoyed a NY Strip, Ribeye and a A3 wagyu cut. We easily could’ve split a steak but we were going for the complete experience and that exactly what we got. We are both recovered alcoholics so wine wasn’t on the menu and the staff was more than accommodating of our “allergy to alcohol”. lol. We had a delightful conversation with one of the chefs Daniel as we sat at the counter for the “Chase Premier” option on open table. Daniel, our server and everyone we encountered were top notch!
As always, I'd say this is best steak house in town in my opinion. Everything from steak to appetizers and drinks were perfect. We had the beef tartar, A5 wagyu, tomahawk, filet mignon, fried potatos. These were as good as I remember from the first time I was here. Drinks were very nice and goes well with the meal. Definitely a must try for special occasions (since it is quite pricy)!
Let's get the negative out of the way first: this was the most expensive solo dining I've ever had and I've been to some exceptional locations. However, the service here is absolutely impeccable. The wine list is beyond unique. And the dishes are well thought out and delicious. The wood fire adds a nuance to the dishes. The black cod and mushroom side dishes were some of the best I've had and the little touches they have for the amuse bouche and the dessert finale really put this place over the top.
