Had a great time at Operator Diner. Ordered the chicken and waffles which were very tasty and packed a flavour bomb with maple syrup as well. My friend got the fish burger which beats any filet o fish any day! Their iced tea and lemonade was perfect to wash it all down. Can’t wait to visit next time to try their other menu items!
Ordered the stack on stack pancakes, the half-half yuzu lemonade and iced tea, and the nuts & jam. The nuts and jam was nice, but the ice cream didn’t really mesh well with the jam and peanut butter. The pancakes were okay. They didn’t have a lot of flavour and they were a bit too sweet once the maple syrup was added. Also could’ve used a bit more butter for the three pancakes. The half-half yuzu lemonade and iced tea was really good and refreshing. The staff were very nice, and overall it was a decent experience.
Had breakfast here one cold morning in Melbourne. When we arrived we managed to get a table, shared with another couple but was good as we had a young child with us so they were accommodating. The staff were welcoming and friendly and stored our pram for us. We got the chicken waffles and eggs your way. The chicken waffles were nice, not a heavy, oily batter but quite light and cooked well. The waffle was more a savoury waffle which my partner enjoyed. I had the eggs your way which were nice but the toast was incredibly hard, I needed a steak knife to cut it! I gave up on the toast and just ate the eggs. Coffee’s were nice. A very retro diner with a modern twist.
A cute little American-style diner with a relaxed vibe and genuinely lovely staff. The space is on the smaller side, so don’t be surprised if you end up sharing a booth. The food was good but didn’t quite wow overall. The clear winner was the mushroom toastie, Get a Shroom, very cheesy and very satisfying. The Big Poppa and chicken & waffles were fine, but nothing memorable. Overall, it’s a pleasant spot with solid menu options and great service, just not one that left a lasting impression.
I came here for an early breakfast and ordered the Main Chick. It’s not something I would normally eat at 8am, but it ticked all the boxes. Wonderful balance of cheese, saltiness, heat and sweetness. The maple syrup had the flavours popping. The chicken was fried perfectly. Highly recommend. Coffee is a lovely brew, so ended up ordering a 2nd cup. Staff are attentive and I didn’t need to wait long for my meal or my coffees. I will definitely be back!
