It’s amazing how being with like minds/hearts actually draws me deeper into my own spirit. This is my experience at OVRHL. Moving my yoga practice here has allowed me to go deeper inside, supported by the expansive kindness and dedication of my teachers. Viva, Moses and Talia are precise, expert practitioners who know the human body and will give you the space to know yours. Heat with a slice of relief. Every. Single. Time.
It was a high intensity class that really honed in on precise form. With great music to keep you motivated. Great instructor!
I have been a long time participant in yoga and mat pilates, and this is THE BEST studio i have ever been to. i cannot stress enough the care, intention, and responsible energetic work that is felt all throughout this studio. an incredible sweat, and recallibaration will be had!
tl;dr: ovrhl is an Oakland gem, and such special place where everything is approached with deep intention. Come here for a challenging yoga or pilates, spiritually grounded class, you will be so happy you did! Bring a mat (or rent one) and a water bottle. Classes are heated or not. Classes description are accurate so you can find the vibe that works best for you. Long review: Finding ovrhl on ClassPass felt like divine timing—I didn’t hesitate to lock in for a six-month membership. When you come across something like this, you just know. Over time, I’ve mainly enjoyed hot Pilates and Ashtanga classes, but dabbled in the slow yin class, they each have a different flavor and teachers here are S tier. On Pilates: I’ve been moved to tears by the deep medicine of Mo’s words and ability to guide you through practice in a way that is both firm and tender. Mo’s classes will wring you out and kick your ass. On Ashtanga: A ritual experience as the class title suggest. This class will sharpen your discipline, deepen your command of the practice, and tend to that inner fire. I deeply appreciate that Mo stays true to the lineage by sharing prayers in Sanskrit and naming postures in both Sanskrit and their Western translations. I can’t say enough about this space, other than that I’ve found a place where I feel profoundly held while also getting to witness others blooming. The studio itself is stewarded with such integrity—openly communicating changes, inviting community participation in decisions, and addressing feedback with honesty. It creates a sense that we’re all moving and healing together.
OVRHL is more than just a place to exercise; it’s a vibrant community that nourishes the body and soul! Moses is an exceptional instructor who transforms each class into a healing journey, infusing therapeutic elements that resonate deeply with his students. The diverse lineup of experienced instructors ensures that workouts are both invigorating and refreshing. You can't go wrong with any of the classes offered! Each visit leaves me feeling lighter and more connected. The welcoming atmosphere, combined with transformative workouts, keeps me coming back time and time again. Love the OVRHL family!
