Absolutely fantastic experience. We had the set menu ‘feed me’ and every dish had a surprising mix of flavours, with generous amounts of food. Exceptional service and perfect friendly vibe. Japanese beers and sake 20/10. Also can’t recommend enough the beef crudo that we tried extra. Definitely coming back. Thanks guys!
The Butchers feast. We were full before the mains started coming out. Apé has flavours you won’t find elsewhere in Newcastle, staff who are on top of the menu in’s and outs, and can recommend a drink for every dish that matches seamlessly.
Food overall was exceptional. The portion sizes are a lot larger than most restaurants we've dined at. We ordered the "feed me" option. There is something for everyone, you'll see from the menu pictures I've attached. The minus 1 star is that the sirloin steak was a little tough. We really enjoyed the food, service & ambience. We will definitely be back.
This place has it all! Fabulous food, service and vibe. We went with the feed me menu and ordered a bonus dish of black squid ink Kara-age, not a single regret! We loved the meat and fish dishes but (surprisingly for us) we were dazzled by the veggie dishes. My photos don’t do the dishes justice, aside from being delicious they were beautifully plated. We all thought we’d just have a mouthful of dessert to be polite, we stopped short of licking our plates clean!
A great first experience. All the dishes we selected were fabulous. The vibe is modern and in keeping with the menu. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a 6.30pm booking and by 7pm the restaurant was a packed house, so you need to book. The only thing that spoilt our dining experience was the table of very loud and drunk table of four consumers seated behind us. Very annoying and disappointing when others are so inconsiderate.
