We hired the Pelican for our Christmas work party and it was absolutely fantastic. We opted for the Rottnest Cruise which allowed us the maximum time and chance to have a swim. Peter (skipper) and Tom (deck hand) were so friendly, warm and knowledgeable. We provided Tom with meat to BBQ for us whilst we swam and had some drinks and he cooks an excellent BBQ - meat was superb. Jackie was so great to deal with when we booked. The whole event was very enjoyable. Thanks so much!
I hired Pelican Charters for my Birthday Party on an Evening Sunset Cruise up the Swan River. My friends and I had such an amazing experience and would definitely recommend booking with them. Boat was spacious and clean and staff were hospitable and helpful. Would book again 100%
I recently hosted my 50th birthday party on Live Wire boat and I couldn't be happier with the experience! From start to finish, the skipper and the staff were incredibly cooperative, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to make our event memorable. They helped us decorate the boat in a way that perfectly captured the festive spirit of our celebration, and every suggestion we made was met with genuine enthusiasm and expert advice. The facilities on board were top-notch—everything from the seating areas to the onboard amenities was in pristine condition, ensuring that our guests were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the entire trip. What impressed me most was how seamlessly everything ran. There was absolutely no interruption to our celebration, thanks to the meticulous planning and support of the crew. Their professionalism, combined with their friendly and accommodating nature, transformed what could have been a challenging event into an absolute delight. I highly recommend this charter service to anyone looking to host a special event. They truly understand how to create a fun and stress-free environment, and I’m already looking forward to my next outing with them!
Sitting on the back of the boat as we steam back to Dampier, writing this review thinking where to start on the experience of a lifetime! Arrived in Karratha around mid afternoon where we were met by the deckies, Alfie and Tay who gathered us all into the bus and transported us to the Mermaid hotel in Dampier, where we regrouped and had an evening meal then off to the boat. We were greeted by Pete and Brandon( the owners of the operation). There is a selection of accommodation from private 1 person cabins (x2) 2 person cabins (x2) and a larger area which sleeps 8 in bunk configuration all sleeping accommodation is air conditioned with block out blinds for a good sleep. The beds are very comfortable and pillows are supplied, I brought my old trusty you are required to bring a sleeping bag or blankets bed sheet is provided. The drinks which were preordered through the Mermaid Hotel and were already on ice in the deck eski for easy access at any time day or night! We steamed through the night to arrive at the Montebello island chain in the morning which was like a magic trick go to sleep in port wake up on the Monties! All the fishing gear you will ever need is on hand and if you bring your own gear (which most did no our trip) there is ample storage areas and rod holders out riggers to set your gear. See the attached photos for the set up. Alfie and Tay were awesome with all the net and gaff work and we never lost a fish the entire trip. They were super patient with me as I lost about 10 rigs in the first morning to sharks but they kept setting me up again and had a spare for me to go to if I got into trouble. At almost every drop we were dragging up a good range of reef species including Rankin Cod, Coral Trout, Long Nose Emperor, Spangles Emperor, Saddle Tail, Spanish Mackerel, Honeycomb Cod, Tomato Cod, Red Emperor, Estuary Cod, Malabar Cod, Job Fish and even some squid! Each person is able to take 20kg of skin on fillets. The crew clean, vacuum pack, and snap freeze all fillets on the spot. Our weather allowed us to stay off the Tryal Rocks for two nights which cut out a couple hours steaming each way so it was an early start each day, big breakfast presented at around 7:00, there is morning tea, full lunch and afternoon nibbles before an evening meal each day. The food was tasty and there was plenty of it, it wasn’t fish at every meal either but there was some tasty meals the stand out for me was the Thai green fish curry with fish caught an hour earlier! The amenities were very clean and well maintained with two shower toilets on the main deck area with good water pressure and a good size to get clean, dried and dressed. There is plenty of areas where you can have a bit of me time too, there is fishing around the entire boat from bow to marlin board. This was my first trip and certainly not my last even though I knew little about this style of fishing all the people and crew on board were awesome. It was the first time I’d see a hammerhead shark up close and personal, a little to close for my liking. We were also lucky enough to see plenty of breaching whales, the odd turtle seals, and bronze whalers. The boat handles the weather beautifully and seemed to be more stable than other boats of a similar size I have been on previously for cruising. So a big thank you to Pelican Charters for an experience I will never forget and one which has given me plenty of stories for the rest home, and I’m working with the boys to arrange another trip next year!
