If I could give zero stars I would. This PetSmart has bad store management. Rude manager, asked for help looking for something and I got an attitude. When I asked for the manager, she said "I'M the manager". She proceeded to walk away. PetSmart lost a loyal customer. Shaking my head I loved this PetSmart.
On January 20th, I called PetSmart to book a grooming appointment for my 10-pound Mini Schnauzer, who had just turned one that same day. When I spoke with the representative, I was quoted $60 for a standard Schnauzer groom. I was asked whether my dog was considered a puppy or an adult. I explained that she had literally just turned one that day, and he told me they would charge for an adult cut. When I asked what the difference was between a puppy cut and an adult cut, I was told a puppy cut would be around $32, and that once a dog receives all rabies shots at four months old, they are no longer considered a puppy. I found this explanation confusing and illogical, but I went ahead and booked the appointment anyway. My husband took our dog in for her appointment, and we were then told there would be an additional de-matting fee, and that they would need to shave her down. To me, de-matting implies attempting to preserve the coat—detangling and carefully removing mats where possible—not simply shaving all the fur off. When my dog was returned to us, she had been groomed by Melanie, and she was completely shaved down, far beyond what was explained. We were told she would be shaved to a #10 blade, but she looked closer to a #1 blade—essentially bald. On top of that, she had a visible nick where her skin was cut and exposed, which was extremely upsetting to see. At this point, I am left wondering what exactly was “de-matted,” because it appears that all of her fur was simply shaved off rather than any effort being made to save her coat. This experience was disappointing, poorly communicated, and frankly upsetting as a pet owner. Based on this experience, I would not recommend PetSmart grooming services. Clear communication, proper handling, and care for animals should be the bare minimum, and unfortunately, that was not our experience. Also my total for a 10lbs dog all the way shaved down came out to be $83.00 outrageous.
I am outraged! I took my dog to get a haircut, nail trim, and ear cleaning—they were supposed to do everything. My son arrived with the dog and showed them a picture of how we wanted her to look, but they didn't deliver what we wanted and expected. I paid $80.00 at the PetSmart located on Airport Freeway in Irving, TX, on January 2, 2026. Seriously, be professional! We pay for a service, and we pay the price you ask, only for you to deliver whatever you feel like. Don't take advantage of people; be serious about your work. I do not recommend taking your dogs to this place.
This store has most of my puppy's needs and is so close to my house. My puppy Xola absolutely loves it here. She's started taking training classes and they have been very helpful. They usually have good deals on dog food online. They have cats up for adoption some days, maybe you can get a cat, or don't, its your life. I cant tell you how to live it.
I honestly cannot believe I paid $74 for my dog to look like this. When I picked him up, his coat was still damp on the entire bottom half, which left his fur straight on top and curly and uneven underneath. Any groomer knows a dog should be completely dried and fluffed before finishing a cut. Since that was not done, the haircut looked patchy and unprofessional. His tear stains and eye boogers were not fully cleaned, which is one of the most basic parts of grooming. His nails were clipped, but it looks like the blade used was dull. There were jagged pieces left on the sides of the nails that actually made them sharper than before. This is not only sloppy work but also unsafe for the dog. On top of all of that, I am not sure what they did to my dog while he was back there, but when I picked him up he seemed scared and was shaking afterwards. That is very concerning to me as an owner. For $74, I expected my dog to come back fully cleaned, dried, brushed, and with a neat trim. Instead, I left with a half-finished result and a dog that seemed stressed. The bandana was cute, but it does not make up for the poor quality of grooming.
