Was in town for the CIM Marathon and rented a bike so that I could catch my son a various part of the course. Everyone at the shop was fantastic. Ed went out of his way to work after hours to set up the rental, and the shop threw in a helmet, lock, and lights since I forgot mine at home. Would definitely give them future business if I’m ever in town again.
Ed was excellent! I brought our e-bike in for a badly needed tune up. He explained the basic tune up service in detail. Access to the rear wheel components was a challenge for him but he went above and beyond to do the repairs and re-wire it to make it easier the next time we bring it in. He was very professional and knowledgeable with e-bikes.
Great day riding in Folsom. Electric bikes made it so easy and Edwardo’s help and advice was amazing. Thank you Edwardo for helping us make some great memories.
The photos I'm posting are not to be dramatic, they are to warn bike riders to ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET!!!!!!! E-bikes are powerful and require caution. I learned that the hard way in a freak accident just moments after getting my first e-bike. While standing (not even sitting yet), I accidentally hit the throttle without realizing it — the bike popped a wheelie and the 60-lb frame went up over my head with the wheels spinning full blast. I had no idea how to stop it because I hadn’t yet learned about the throttle. When I finally let go, the bike flung forward and I fell backwards, hitting my head, back, and tailbone. I’m writing this four days later from bed with a mild concussion and a very painful hematoma. I am absolutely convinced that if I hadn’t been wearing a helmet, I could have had a brain bleed. Never question a helmet. Always wear one. To be clear: this was not Ed’s fault. He is wonderful and would have gladly given me a full tutorial if we hadn’t had a scheduling conflict. I’m sharing this only because I want new riders to be safe. E-bikes are powerful, and the throttle is much more sensitive than you might expect. Please make sure to get a proper tutorial, wear a helmet, and practice in a safe, controlled environment. As for Ed at Practical Cycle — he is truly one of the kindest and most caring employees you’ll meet. My experience says more about the sheer power of e-bikes than anything else.
I got a bike, all required equipment, map and clear directions. I recommend this place to everyone who is visiting Folsom. There are so many beautiful places in the area. One of the best ways for spending a weekend. I will definitely come back here!
