10/10 recommend. Front desk staff is super nice and Smaily does a great job! I went for my first time around Christmas for a cut & style, service was so good I went back today for a blowout and curl set (Both w Smaily). My layers are fantastic and have boosted my confidence. I have a lot of hair and am always nervous going to the salon due to it being so time consuming and sometimes staff isn’t so nice, but Smaily does a great job and takes the time to actually blow out my hair whereas in my other experiences they just sit me under the hooded dryer w rollers for HOURS and eventually get to blowing it out (while complaining). Customer service & professionalism 10/10. Also shout out to the sweet lady who washed my hair I believe her name was Kira, she was so nice and accommodating :)
I got my hair colored by Laura prior to Christmas, and I am unfortunately just now getting around to writing this review because every time I think about the experience, I get overwhelmingly irritated. I had a haircut from James, and he recommended Laura, the salon’s blonde specialist. I had a good experience with him, and she had good reviews, so I scheduled with her. I did not have to pay for this appointment due to the quality of work, so I am writing this PURELY to warn others. I specifically booked a full highlight. When I sat in her chair, she looked through my hair and said it was already pretty blonde and that I would only need a partial. We went back and forth, and I emphasized that I need my roots to look freshly done, especially in up do’s, as my job is heavily presentation-focused. She again confirmed that a partial was recommended. I asked whether my roots would look done while half up/half down, and she confirmed yes and stated that she places foil all over, even on partials. I regrettably trusted her and went with her recommendation. The appointment itself felt rushed and emphasis on messy. While contributive to the context, I am limited due to the character limit, so I digress. When finished, she only blow-dried the front section of my hair and then quite literally LEFT because she had a doctor’s appointment. I had a haircut booked with another stylist since she only does color, but she didn’t even stay to confirm the final result with me. While getting my hair cut, I asked for a mirror when my hair was sectioned half up/half down. I was truly horrified by how incomplete it looked. She had confirmed my roots would be touched up in this exact style, which was untrue. Upon further inspection, nowhere did the blonde reach my roots aside from the outer front, coincidentally the exact piece she blow-dried. It was laughably bad, even for a partial. I complained at the front, and because there was no manager on duty, they initially tried to send me away! Only after I pushed back on the verge of tears, stating that a luxury salon should have customer service available, did the front desk assistant call the manager, who forced a busy head stylist to speak with me. He kindly confirmed the work was indeed poorly done and needed to be re-colored. They attempted to reschedule me with the stylist who cut my hair, but I did not feel comfortable. Management never contacted me to apologize. Laura texted me herself to confirm my appointment with the other stylist (why??) and days later, asked me to call her. Never sent a text or voicemail that would imply an apology, and maybe she would have, but I wasn’t interested. I genuinely believe she manipulated me into a partial so she could make her doctor’s appointment. Fortunately, I didn’t have to pay for this rock-bottom experience, but now I have to find a stylist to correct her subpar work. The most ironic part is that during our appointment, I had mentioned a previous bad experience with another stylist. She said many stylists simply just don’t know what they’re doing! Based on these results, would you think Laura knows what’s she’s doing? What a JOKE. In response to the Owner’s reply: - I am not sure how you can say management was involved when the front desk assistant tried to send me away due to there being no manager on duty. The head stylist that communicated with me after my appointment is quite literally in the background of my first picture attached doing someone’s hair. - I was offered an appointment with Jesus, who was very kind, but not a senior stylist. Not only is he the most affordable stylist on your website, but when I asked him if Laura was the only blonde specialist, he said yes. If your blonde specialist can’t even handle basic blonde coloring, why would I trust a novice stylist at your salon. - The text quite literally said, “Good morning Victoria, Laura here, are you available 12/24 time 12 with Jesus so we can re do the highlights?”. I will be adding this to my review. Similar to your stylist’s work, your response is ridiculous. 🥰
I have been looking for a hair stylist that knows how to cut and work with short hair since moving to Miami 2 years ago. Several tried at other salons but I think I found my guy Jesus at Salon Ethos. Jesus took the time to ask about what I wanted and even if there were any problem areas that needed to be addressed. Respected my wishes about little product in my styling which I appreciate. He got my cut just right which is not a simple thing;) The salon itself is very pretty and the front desk receptionist was so friendly and helpful with helping me choose a stylist and scheduling. Definitely scheduled to come back!
Found the right stylist! I’ve always kept my hair short, but three months ago decided to let it grow out on a whim. All was well, until I looked in the mirror recently and no longer had any idea what to do with it. After some research, I found Salon Ethos in Midtown, and I’m so glad I did. Evan was awesome. He started with a thoughtful consultation to understand my hair goals and gave me honest, practical advice. The experience itself was top-notch: luxurious shampoo, sparkling water, and Evan masterfully scissor-cutting my hair to the perfect shape and texture. I walked out knowing my hair had direction and purpose again. If you’re switching up styles or just want a stylist who truly listens and knows their craft, book with Evan at Salon Ethos. Worth every penny.
I had the best experience at Salon Ethos. Everyone was so friendly. My stylist Zuheily was an absolute sweetheart and worked so hard to make my blonde dreams come true. She matched my inspo pictures perfectly and kept my hair healthy. She even gave me tips on how to style my bangs with a blow dryer which was super lovely. It was fairly priced. I have absolutely no complaints. So thankful! The before and after pictures. It’s actually insane the difference!
