Notice the prices taken from a display case advertising the restaurant posted below. Somebody else posted a menu at the same prices. When I was there no prices were posted and I was charged a dollar more per cup. If the prices have gone up they need to change their menu (menu costs— sea Milton Friedman, Ha,Ha,Ha). When I inquired about prices are like around $5 In fairness. I hadn't seen any other prices beforehand, but still it would be nice if there would be consistency a problem in this day and age with business). The ambiance was nice even if the final charge was $4.44 (4 isan unlucky number in China (444 is like the triple death number!). Nice ambience and reasonably polite, though the paper cops were kind of not a nice touch and a little odd. (I'd rather expect porcelain and a place trying to be authentic like this.) Not as good as AT house and Guangzhou (and no dim sum— just moon cakes which are pretty much relegated to Autumn festival in China). Honestly the aged white tea was good but it wasn't as good as the black tea that I got at QT the other day. Also it was a little watery for me. I like it strong. I didn't super give him a bad rating cuz it was not an unpleasant experience. Response to owner: things need to be explicit: if the service is to go only this needs to be made clear in advance. I was understood to be paying for a tea house experience. If only to go cups are available, this needs to be made clear before the tea is ordered and served the tea payment is expected. Hopefully, at this point, an accurate printed menu is posted in house as welll. Furthermore, if white tea is going to taste like watered-down tea, mighr mention this in advance in explaining the different teas. Lastly, It might be nice to mention somewhere that in China mooncakes are traditionally seasonal and for mid-Autumn festival only And that otherwise traditional Cantonese tea houses generally serve dim sum (rather than moon cakes). E.G. let us know that your dishwasher is broken and that the tee will therefore be served in paper cups before it is ordered.
The white chai tea was excellent, so was the homemade pineapple mooncake. All orders are to go now and they stopped serving food, but are unable to remove old pics.
Shang's Tea House is a beautiful shop filled with incredible Jade pieces, stunning teaware, and delicious tea. I had the privilage of discovering this place during Mid Autumn Festival and was able to celebrate with delicious moon cakes as well — both the lotus and pineapple flavors were tasty! I learned they are made in house with a family recipe! The honeysuckle white tea is my new favorite tea to drink daily and my fish cup brings me joy everyday during my tea sessions. The service here was amazing and I am so happy to have found Gongfu style tea in person that I can also order online since I live 6 hours away. I cannot wait to come back to Kansas City and visit again. 谢谢 !
I am a repeat customer and have been purchasing tea (in person and online) from Shang for more than 12 years. Shang sells the best tea I have ever had the pleasure to imbibe! These teas, unlike other teas I have consumed, are truly superb and so flavorful and high quality that I never add any sweetener, milk, or other adulterant. I have tried the following teas from Shang. White Peony King Rock Wu-Long Mei Gui Wu-Long Tea Rainbow Peony White Tea White Tea Wu-Long Premium Aged White Tea Wu-Long Gong Mei Winter Leaf White Tea Tangerine Blossom Red Tea Ginseng Chai Golden Needle King Grade, Silver Needle King, Bai Lin Kung Fu Classic Red Tea Sweet Leaf Tea Wild Honeysuckle Wild Chrysanthemum Orange Blossom I highly recommend all of these teas, which have been excellent!! However, my favorites (in order of preference) are: White Peony King Rock Wu-Long Mei Gui Wu-Long Tea Rainbow Peony White Tea White Tea Wu-Long Premium Aged White Tea Wu-Long Gong Mei Winter Leaf White Tea Tangerine Blossom Red Tea Ginseng Chai I have also purchased and recommend, the Classic Kung Fu Tea Cup Set, the Big Kung Fu Tea Cup Set, and the Sitka Tea Maker. Every time I am in Kansas City, I make a point to stop at Shang's shop. I have learned much about tea from Shang and thoroughly enjoyed my tea journey since making his acquaintance. If you are a tea lover and in Kansas City, MO, I recommend stopping by his shop in Crown Center and perusing the teas, tea ware, and jewelry for purchase! You will be glad you did!!
Wonderful tea shop! I loved it. They have a great selection with a few unique teas. Definitely a new favorite of mine. The Red Bean and dark chocolate moon cake was also really good! The owner explained it's a family recipe and they put a lot of effort into making sure their ingredients are fresh. -Nathaniel
