A welcoming environment with an instructor who is obviously passionate and knowledgeable. Karen is an experienced artist with an exciting approach to her work who is able to challenge me and have me question what I am able to create and why it's important to step away from what I know. This one is for my fellow Type As and anxious beginners: Start here! I was surprised by how quickly and intensely my irrational nerves hit me in class, but Karen was so supportive in this experience. She use her expertise, humour, and gave clear directions to get me out of my head and put paint on the canvas. She is a very involved instructor throughout the process with keen attention and feedback for her students. I will definitely be returning to further develop the skills I learned in our first class.

Karen’s 3-day art intensive was delightfully immersive, full of expansive experiences and deeply healing. Karen’s welcoming personality and wide-ranging experience made for three consecutive days of learning, laughter and leaning into my edges. I found Karen online after art classes elsewhere had been cancelled. Her vibrant abstract art spoke to me, yet it wasn’t until we met in person, that I experienced her passionate commitment. I value the care Karen put into creating a fully immersive art experience and I’m extremely grateful that as the sole registrant, classes were still offered. Karen provided all the supplies I required, including an apron and notebook, both of which were equally important as the accompanying paints, brushes and other necessities. While unfamiliar with concept art until meeting Karen, I soon appreciated it as an approach that deeply resonates with me. Karen shared two techniques she employs, each taking me on a co-creative and transformative journey. As Karen works out of the Cotton Factory’s Dyeworks Studio, I enjoyed being immersed in a rich, creative culture of art and welcomed the opportunity to meet several artists and enjoy a variety of art forms. Thank you Karen for three days of creative wonder. The synchronicities were plentiful and I look forward to continuing my artistic journey with you in the future!
