Do not recommend. I am not a customer, but a firsthand witness. While attending an appointment at Austin Regional Clinic, I observed children playing at Sun Moon & Stars Learning Center. One child attempted to run away from an employee, and the staff member responded by sharply pulling the child’s hair from the back of her head. The child immediately began crying uncontrollably. What I witnessed was deeply concerning and, in my opinion, inappropriate behavior toward a child. This occurred at approximately 12:22 PM on the day of this review. For management: I am not interested in a scripted response or a request to call. This is something that should be addressed internally and corrected. REPLY Your response appears to be a generic template and does not address the substance of what I reported. I never stated I was a customer, nor did I provide any identifying information that would appear in your records. I was a witness at Austin Regional Clinic, adjacent to Sun Moon & Stars Learning Center. I clearly observed a staff member sharply pull a child by the hair, followed by the child crying uncontrollably. That is the concern being raised—rather than addressing that, your response focuses on deflection instead of acknowledging the seriousness of what was witnessed. Referencing schedules, fencing, or lack of a “record” does not change what was witnessed. I am not interested in a scripted reply or a request to call. This should be reviewed internally and addressed appropriately.

Sun Moon & Stars has a beautiful campus and the caregivers all seem very nice. My child started here at 6 months and we switched daycares after 3 months of her being there. From an outside perspective the older kid classrooms seem great, but I do not recommend sending your infant here. As a parent, age appropriate wake windows/nap times are very important to me. Their infant classrooms do not pay attention to wake windows. My child was often kept up 2-3hrs past her wake window. When she did nap, it was super short. This caused her to have more night wakings which then impacted my ability to show up to work ready to give 100%. Also, the caregivers in their infant rooms speak very little to no English. As a first time mom I didn’t think that was a big deal, but then I realized not being able to communicate how the morning/night went when I dropped my child off or discuss how the day went when I picked her up was very difficult. The caregivers are very very sweet and I could see how much they cared for the babies, it’s just a shame they don’t have the proper structure setup there. We have since switch to another daycare, and it’s night and day difference! So much better.

Choking back tears we said goodbye -not to our kids- they're in the backseat arguing about crackers. We were going to miss the warmest daycare with heart that exists. They got us through Covid with an infant, prepared her to thrive in kindergarten. They seamlessly worked with us to help our son with special needs. Their staff was a natural extension of our kids community. The infant room teacher attended her PreK graduation. This daycare is one of the few that is actually worth the cost.

We have absolutely loved our time at SMS! The teachers and support staff seem to know every child's name and know how to make each baby give the biggest smile, which is genuinely heart-warming. We are moving out of state and can only hope to find a facility with such a caring and thoughtful staff.

Took us three daycares to find one that felt up to the task. We are very thankful for SMS and their thoughtfulness! Great staff.

We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the community at SMS. Over the past several years, this has been a second home for our three children, all of whom have been enrolled since they were just four months old. They really do help raise your kids! Our oldest son just "graduated" after spending four and a half amazing years here, and we're so grateful for the journey he's had. From the very beginning, the teachers have been exceptionally caring and attentive, providing a nurturing and safe environment for our little ones. We've been continuously impressed by their ability to foster a sense of security and belonging. As our children have gotten older, we've watched the teachers seamlessly transition from a focus on comfort and care to a rich and engaging academic curriculum. They truly step up their game when the kids turn three or four, and the results are undeniable. My oldest two had a great potty training experience when they were ~2.5 as well. Our oldest just started at a new elementary school, and his new teacher commented on how far ahead he was in his vocabulary, reading, and writing compared to most kids his age. This is a direct testament to the fantastic academic foundation he received here. We couldn't recommend this daycare enough. The staff's dedication to both the social-emotional and academic development of every child is simply outstanding. They've seen it all - and will help you be a better parent!
