We have two boys. Ash (8 years) and Maverick (9 months). Ash was trained as a puppy and is a great dog, but after a husky attacked him he became reactive to other dogs while on the leash. We tried absolutely everything to help him, but it was only getting worse. We used to live in a smaller town where it was less likely to run into other dogs, but when we moved to the city it became unavoidable and we saw just how out of control his reactivity had become. We were hesitant to use negative reinforcement because it started with trauma, and didn’t know what to do since he’s an older dog. Then we got Maverick who has been an exceptional puppy, but he had bad separation anxiety and then started to mimic Ash’s reactivity. We were overwhelmed. We reached out to Belen after seeing the amazing reviews she’d received. It was the best decision we ever made for our boys. We gave her our complete trust, and she proved to know her stuff extremely well. She explained everything to us about how our dogs were feeling based on their reactions, she explained her approaches to us and why they work, she taught us and equipped us to train them at home, and our boys love her!! She eased my anxieties about not doing well enough for our doggies, and helped us learn to better recognize and know their needs. I haven’t been able to walk the dogs without extreme anxiety in forever, and finally, I can enjoy them again. She even took the time to help us with other aspects of training despite reactivity being our focus. She helped us with obedience in the home, Maverick’s separation anxiety, and even new commands. As it turns out, you can teach an old dog new tricks!! (And stubborn puppies too). We give Belen the absolute HIGHEST recommendation without reservation. Whether your dog is old or just a puppy, we can say from experience on both sides, that Belen will help your dogs and help you, too! She’s absolutely exceptional. She’s one of a kind with her understanding of animals, her knowledge on training, and being a truly compassionate person. Thank you for everything Belen!!

It has been a pleasure working with Belen at Sunny Dog Training. Our 15 month old Australian Shepherd was a challenge. Trying to get her to listen and not react to every moving thing or person around her was exhausting. Her instinct was to jump up with excitment and be completly taken by everything except our commands. Walking on a leadh with her was more like running behind her to try and keep up. Belen with her knowledge and technics has completly changed this. She helped us teach Kaya good manners and how not to be reactive. We are very pleased with the outcome of our dogs training. If you follow the teachings and do the homework/training daily you will see results. We highly recommend Sunny Dog training for those who wish to improve their and pup's quality of life. We enlisted Belen to help us with our 9 month old Red Fox Lab Cooper. Cooper had zero training and was a handful. Under Belen’s tutalidge he know is much more manageable and predictable. Pancho was barking excessively, and despite trying multiple online training programs, nothing seemed to work. We even purchased barking deterrent collars, but Pancho continued barking regardless. Our neighbours spoke to us several times to complain, and at one point, we were close to having law enforcement called due to the situation. That’s when we decided to reach out to Belen. We had previously worked with her when we had another puppy, and that experience had been very successful. Belen not only helped us resolve Pancho’s barking but also guided us through his anxiety in the car, whining at home, and other behavioural challenges. The transformation has been incredible. Pancho now behaves so well that even our friends are amazed by how calm and well-mannered he is; he’s truly become a “model dog.” I would absolutely recommend Belen’s training program to anyone dealing with behavioural or training issues with their dog. Prior to working with Belen, our large Newfoundland was very stubborn and didn’t always respond to commands. He was also reactive with some dogs when walking on the leash. This made walks anxiety-provoking and stressful! After working with Belen, we have noticed a significant difference. Harvey is much calmer and much more responsive. He listens on walks and so far has not been reactive. His off-leash recall is amazing! Walks are much more enjoyable now. We definitely recommend Belen. She is very pleasant and professional to work with, Harvey loved her, and she was very knowledgeable.
