I’ve been taking my dog Finn to Tall Grass Animal Hospital for the past two years and they always take such great care of him. He’s scared of going to the vet and they are very patient and kind to him (: will keep continuing to come here!
I used to really like this practice. However, since Dr Fordham and Dr Frint left, it has not been the same. My dog had an infected anal gland. And while they did give her the proper medicine and she is healed, I didn’t feel they cared about her at all. At our annual visit, I felt the selling of preventative services was more important than learning about my pets lifestyle and finding out what they actually needed. And during her exam for the anal gland issue, the Dr mentioned her weight first thing when she walked in the room. She didn’t address the issue we were there for, didn’t take a moment to find out how my dog was doing, just went right into the lecture about getting 1 or 2 pounds off her and wanting me to put her on a very strict RX diet. My terrier does need to lose 1 or 2 pounds, she is not obese! We are talking 1-2 pounds. She is active, I take her for walks, she plays and runs around with her sister. I wouldn’t have minded talking about this had her anal gland issue been addressed first. I was so disappointed with the lack of compassion she received. None of the staff made any effort to pet her or get to know her. She’s a dog and you work in a vet clinic. You can’t take a second and pet a dog before you try and examine her? I feel the practice is all about money and no longer about caring for animals. Dr. Frint used to come in and sit on the floor with my girls and pet them while we talked about what was going on with their health.
After calling seven other veterinarian offices are secured an appointment at 5:30 this afternoon with tall grass. I had to make the appointment online as no one answered the phone 30 minutes after I made the appointment they wanted me to bring my dog in for the day so that they could get a clean urine sample from her. Unfortunately, I run my own business and can’t drop everything for their convenience. The woman that called seemed annoyed. We arrived early. I went in and asked if they had a sterile cup so I could do a clean catch of my dog. They said they didn’t do it that way. The original tech didn’t even bother to take my dog temperature but certainly wanted to take her into the back so they can do the needle stick into her bladder for a “sterile“ specimen. The veterinarian that I met with seemed very nice. She was willing to do a clean catch urine sample. We did blood work as well. I expected to pay but almost $400 and I have no answer. I’m not impressed. We will see what the results are next week and I will continue my search for a decent veterinary clinic.
I have been to so many vets in the Aurora area and Tall Grass is definitely my top choice. With reasonable prices, flexible scheduling, friendly staff and expert vets they are hard to beat! My older dog Sofa seems to always have something going on and they've been great with immediate care as well as ongoing care for her! I always feel like my concerns are taken seriously and I'm always given multiple treatment options! I love that they're up front with costs so I'm not shocked by the bill at the end. Incredibly grateful to the team there, can't recommend them enough!
Dr. Skarie did an amazing job with examining our 3 month old puppy and making sure he felt comfortable. He was very thorough and gave us the opportunity to ask many questions as a first-time pet parent. The staff was also very welcoming and accommodating. This will definitely be our go-to animal hospital moving forward!
